BSM looks weird from behind without CF Package?

Is it me or does the car look weird from behind in BSM without the CF package?

I like the black lower contrast on the other colors but it feels like BSM is missing something unless you get the CF package to change up the rear lower color / style.

Just me?

I prefer the CF Package on all of the colors, contrast it nice because it breaks up things and makes them look more intentional.

I dunno…
I think the back shot of mine is one of my favorite angles! Admittedly, I did not have the option to spec as I stumbled upon mine-

That being said, exterior carbon pack I feel sometimes gets lost on the BSM. I’ve seen a few in person to contrast… my biggest FOMO in my mind are those beautiful carbon inlets on front bumper…

Maybe I’ll start a thread on the front end LOL

I know how much carbon fiber cloth and resin costs - CF packages are complete ripoff by any car manufacturer including BMW.

I barely talked myself into paying for CF trim for the interior to avoid plain boring silver steering wheel.

YMMV

It may be a ripoff, but it looks fantastic! If its a ripoff from BMW, try assembling those parts aftermarket and you'll be paying more than double.

Once I saw it, there was no way I'd accept the chicken wire frontend.

Looks fine to me. I didn't go with the cf package because gets lost on the BSM unless you are up close. I went with the buckets instead

Well, "chicken wire" is on cars that cost 2-3x of M3 so it's not like it's an appalling out-of-place piece of plastic that doesn't belong on M3
Also it protects radiators from rocks flying in and destroying them. CF option has two large openings on each side you can stick your whole hand in. I personally would think about retrofitting some kind of a chicken wire screen if the car came stock with holes that large, since it's going to be my daily driver.

Anyway I'm not saying it doesn't look good but I'm not paying thousands of dollars for $30 CF cloth and $30 gallon of resin. I can't even pull off a half-ass effort claiming CF is better because it's lighter since the black plastic trim is just as light.

Honestly, I like the CF exterior on BSM. Especially the rear diffuser. It adds a subtle contrast which becomes more apparent as you approach car. Unfortunately, my M4 which I purchased from dealer wasn't equipped with it. Im currently waiting on aftermarket parts to be available. In the mean time, slapping on R44 ducktail spoiler did improve how the back looks.

Yeah I agree. CF is deff the better option overall. Front and back.

The gloss black in the regular trim still looks good on every color though. Just seems to completely disappear on BSM.

Beautiful car! Did you get ceramic coating? Looks extra shinny in the last few pics.

Yeah for sure. 100% a ripoff price wise. Still looks sweet, IMO.

If you stick to OEM parts sure. It's basically plastic at the end of the day though. For my F82 I went for an aftermarket rear diffuser for a fraction of even the IND cost. If I had bought used, would've saved even more. For that part and the rear deck lid lip, I'm sure aftermarket parts will be available cheap and serve the same aesthetic purpose.

Some folks are speculating that the inlets in the front would be a much harder install, but vendors are going to come up with cheap alternatives that are still full CF.

I'm not too familiar with the ceramic process. Why the two different types?

The carbon fiber pack seems overpriced for what you get. It should include the side vents as well. If they sold the front carbon air inlets, i would order it.

Carbon shows up better on contrasting colors like alpine white.

Now having looked at of different pieces of carbon on my various cars I can definitely tell a difference especially in the 1x1 vs 2x2 weaves. I too thought the carbon exterior package was overpriced but after pricing out each part individually it’s practically twice as much. The front bumper inlets alone are I believe $1200 each. Same with the mirror caps. Buying everything separate from IND is over 7k
