Accidentally ordered without Extended Shadowline Trim

BIMMERPOST
     Featured on BIMMERPOST.com
I just noticed that my base model M3 doesn’t have the optional 7M9 Extended Shadowline Trim. After digging through some paperwork, it appears that it was not specified on my order under the mistaken impression that 760 Shadowline Exterior Trim was the same thing. Looks like a simple mistake on both my dealer and myself. Live and learn.

And what would have been the difference? Car looks to be completely shadowline...

Mirror caps, trunk lip spoiler and exhaust tips would be black.

Personally, I think it still looks great as-is. At least it was just a no-cost option, and not something you paid thousands for and didn't receive.

I actually like it this way too, wouldn't consider it a loss at all. Nice ride!

Also, Cowboy Bebop plate frame?

Yep. Also very easy to fix in all three cases if OP wants the additional blacked out parts. Or instead of the OEM parts, one could go with M Performance CF parts or third party alternatives.

Yup cowboy bebop, and now that I think about it maybe some carbon fiber bits will make it on there.

This is true, glad is not a paid option.

So what exactly is "760 Shadowline Exterior Trim"?

It's not on my build sheet but the Extended Shadowline Trim is. I don't recall ever seeing any reference to 2 versions of this very similar option. I believe I know what the 'extended' one is and your car for sure doesn't have it, as you've noticed.

It's the standard exterior trim that all M3/M4 come with. If you want to see it on "paper", it is listed in the Pricing Guide available in this forum in the section labeled "Standard" at the end of the document.

This option code exists because in the past there were M3/M4 variants available with other exterior trim finishes (such as polished silver) around the windows and other areas. The 3 Series / 4 Series vehicles built along side the M variants offer some of these. When you look at the entire model lineup as a whole, many things that we take for granted as standard on the M models are actually just one choice out of a number possibilities.

Thanks, I wonder why it's apparently on some build sheets but not on others. I'm not worried I'm not getting the 'standard' shadowline trim, though. I'm just curious why the variability.

I really wanted to only get the exhaust tips black and nothing else because I, too, like the mirror caps and trunk lip spoiler matching the body paint. I ended up getting the exterior Shadowline trim just for the exhaust tips

You could get just the black exhaust tips...IND is currently selling some in matte black. I'm sure others will come along in gloss black, carbon fiber, etc...

It's too late for me, I had my production number in December so had to make a decision then. The Shadowline mirror caps/spoiler isn't so bad, just much nicer in matching body color.

If I was buying a manual G80 I would not opt for shadowline if I wasn't adding the CF pack. I think this is the way to go OP.

I agree the high gloss black definitely will not age well unless you’re meticulous about taking care of it, but mine is a daily even in winter.

Personally I kind of prefer these tips as they stand out more than black.
