Stop Sales - when in the process did you know

For those who have stop sales, how early in the process did you learn you had a stop sale?

Mine is finished and at the factory waiting for carrier assignment to the port. BMW says no stop sales on mine.

So…is it too early for me to celebrate, or am I out of the woods?

I wouldn't celebrate till its out of VPC in the states. Not sure when the last possible moment a stop sale could hit, but I think its too early to celebrate.

Mine was known to me when my car was dispatched from factory, but it totally varies. No one knows for sure about the stop sale, my dealer had told me that my stop sale would be fixed at port of departure and it will continue sitting there until the stop sale clears out. It turned out to be false at-least in my case, all the current stop sales are being fixed at VPC (port of arrival).

found out the day it got to the port. my CA sent me a text 1st thing that morning. im still at the port, so it will get on a ship and get fixed when its offloaded in Chucktown. it seems like most all of the week 35-36 have the RAM and camera (if they have parking assist) stop sales. which is weird because the previous week's dont seem to have had them.

Mine was dispatched from the factory, my SA said I was basically just waiting for a boat. Then the stop sale update came (radio and camera). He thinks it will get on a boat, and then be fixed over here once parts are available.

Yesterday my CA texted me and said he had good news and bad news for me... the good news is that my car boarded a boat but the bad news is that my car is affected by the RAM module stop sale... so I guess it'll get to VPC and wait for parts to do the fix there.

I was notified about "Stop Sale" when the car arrived to the Galveston VPC. Been waiting on Camera Retrofits since 8/13 we'll see how much more time passes by.

To sum it up, it could be at any stage once the vehicle has been dispatched from factory. You'll find out as soon as it's dispatched from factory or at the local/remote port.

Some parts should be here in October.... sounds like there are so many people with stop sales that I doubt everyone will get a piece of that pie.

Until your vehicle is on a carrier to the dealership you're not out of the woods.

My camera retrofit was resolved exactly 30 days after my car hit the VPC. My RAM is still open and it'll be at least another 15 days best case scenario but entirely possible that I'll see October come and go without resolution. We'll see.

Thanks all for your input. While I'm not completely out of the woods until it's on the way to the dealership, it seems like most know about the stop sale when it's at the port in Germany.

So….let me ask a very specific question.

Has anyone…

1) Been told no stop-sale(s) on their car when it was at the port in Germany or later in the process (different than just not being told either way)
2) and then was told their car did have a stop sale (excluding those early builds that had the "product launch date" stop-sale. Must be stop sales due to missing parts)

I've seen a few that said something like "My SA told me I had a stop-sale once it reached the VPC". That doesn't tell me much, it might have had it right after it left the factory, but no one told you and you didn't ask.

Thanks!

I secured my car while it was on the ship from Germany. Since I saw so many people reporting delays on this forum, I asked my SA if there were any stop sales on the car like camera or audio module. He told me that the car was fully built (no stop sales) and that we should expect it at the dealership in about 1-2 weeks. However, as soon as it reached the VPC (about 1 day after), the stop sale occurred and I was told that there was an open ticket for the camera retrofit. I believe I called Genius and found this out prior to my SA telling me. In the end it took exactly 1 month for the car to get from the VPC to the dealership.

Jim - here are the potential shipping dates for our G83’s to Galveston. BMW uses Wallenius for Galveston bound cars.

I talked to Genius after I saw my car was "In Transit" to try to find out what vessel it was going to be on. They told me car was fully built, no stop sale. I got a call from my CA, 2 hours later, with the standard update, also telling me the vessel I would be on, but to my surprise, that I had a stop sale for the audio module.

From what I've seen, cars have been getting to the Port Hueneme VPC, an being fixed almost right away. So, it would seem to me, that they have parts on hand. And my car will be in the next shipment to arrive at the port. So, I hope that mine gets fixed quickly, and its in route to the dealer. I cant setup tint and PPF appointments, if my car could take a week at VPC, or a month.

They also use NYK and K-Line. Mine arrived to Galveston port through almost a fairly new vessel of K-Line.

I have another data point to report, and unfortunately, it's mine.

My car arrived at the Bremerhaven port on Friday when it still showed no stop sales. I called BMW today, and now I have two (camera and RAM).
