Big power and PS4S?

Anyone in here with unlocked dme and power upgrades running 6-700+ horsepower and the michelin ps4s? Wanting to see how they hook, I’m getting rid of my pirellis and want more grip for the power, debating the Michelin or Toyo R888R that I’m familiar with

Yes, the PS4S can handle 4x the torque of the Pirellis because reasons.

My PS4s couldn’t handle 560. I’m at 736 now and ordered the NT555R2. The 888 won’t do anything either, anyone with tire knowledge will tell you to stay away from them.

The Pirelli's are definitely junk. I lost the tire lottery and got the Pzeros. Running on JB4 Map 2, they are spinning on 1st gear and a tiny bit in second. I know of few others on PS4S running on Map 4 and 5 with a E40 mix and they only getting the tiniest bit of wheelspin in 1st gear.

Once my Pirellis are almost toast, I'm going to change over to Yokohoma AD09s and contemplate doing a femto unlock on custom flex fuel

I can attest to the R888 being terrible on the street. They have to be hot to hook and then they heat cycle out and turn to bricks way before the tread is gone. I'll be getting NT01s this summer, best grip I know of, though definitely sketchy if wet at all. The NT555R2s are probably a good option to able to drive in the rain without fear.

I ran the PS4s back in the F82 on FBO E85 and it didn't like it all you're gonna need a real tire on that rear. A lot of people running the Mikey Thompson Street SS when making real power but be cautious of the rain.

I'm planning to switch to Michelin Cup 2 connects soon. They're the new, better and improved version of the OG Cup2's with better tread compounds, better tread rating, improved water performance and still being a high grip/traction tire for straight line and for taking corners fast/confidently.

I can't wait to get them.

Let us know what you end up with and how they work out. I’m in the same 700 horse Pirelli boat and thinking of going NT555R2 but open to other possibilities.

It's really hard to beat the PS4S on the street because of the temperature they'll be operating in. The only other tires I can think of with better grip under average street driving temps are the A052 or RE71RS, neither of which are available in the right size.

R888s are garbage, and Cup2s grip less than PS4s until you get some heat into them.

Shocked at the R888’s are garbage comments. Ive had them on a couple rwd cars making 750-800+ whp. And they hooked great from a roll at pretty much any speed. They are not a great dig tire because if the stuff sidewall, but there is a YouTube video if a G80 going 9’s on them

I would be interested in Nitto nt01 im a fan of those, but not sure they are available in sizes to fit the factory wheels

I'm looking at Nitto NT-01 on stock wheels. RWD.
F: 285/35/19 (should be 0.29" taller, 0.52" wider than stock pirells)
R: 315/30/20 (should be 0.68" taller, 1.2" wider than stock pirellis)

I think this should fit OK. Maybe some trimming in front, camber in rear? I'm on stock suspension and not planning to lower at all. Would love to hear other's thoughts.

It's just a trend people shitting on them. I've had them on my 750whp track Mustang and loved them. Hooked great, very capable on the track when got heat in them. Planning to put them on my G82. I've had Nt01's which were not bad but not as good, and also nt555r2 which has a softer side wall hook better from dig but handle much worse.

For those that have been running PS4s how would they handle up on a RWD Comp running 305’s in the back?

Not flash tuned yet but when I do I’ll go the ‘stage 2’ 91 Oct downpipe/bolt on etc tune.
No plans to run E85 as that’s not my end goal.

Would the 4s be sufficient enough for that level of power increase?

Id love if i could fit 315’s in the rear, I’m lowered though and not positive if 315’s will fit

Not a "trend". I speak from experience running R888 on the street. They were ok at first, but had to really try hard to get them warm before they had good grip to actually do pulls or take corners with confidence. Before long they just got hard and terrible traction no matter what, while still having tons of tread depth left. Maybe they are good on the track, but never again on a street car for me. My experience with NT01s on the street is pretty much opposite. Tons of grip through end of life, even when they've basically become slicks.

Drag or road course? I think they are better drag tires than road course. I hear they are garbage cornering lap after lap.

I am on PS4's and im tuned on e55 and they hook (I am an X-drive though) when you let the air down. I just ordered a set of 18s that I hope fit lol and I am going to try and run a set of 295-35-18 squared nt05 for a little drag pack

road course. sidewall is too stiff for a drag tire. nt555r2 are better for that purpose.

Nice, any idea how much power you’re making? I’m x drive as well, prefer a great all around tire that will hook from a stop when I need them to

I have no clue. Guessing mid to upper 6's maybe, I do not have a linked dyno near me. They didn't make the size tires I wanted in the 555r2's so I went with NT05R. I'll be getting the nt555rII if I stay on the factory rims if these 18's don't fit haha.
