Looks legit. Excited to hear about people’s experience’s after installing. I’m sure they’re great. If i hadn’t spent money converting from CCB to stock brakes, swapping front rotors for Girodisc with pagid pads, I’d be buying them today. But what I’ve got works well for my skill level on the track. This kit would be a nice upgrade though.

All our front and rear kits options are now live and shipping! You can see all the options here.
Also of note, we are having our Black Friday event early this year, in the form of our Brake From Inflation Sale. All G8x brake kits are 10% off during the month of November, which means you can save $1000+ on a front/rear kit! |

We just completed a blog post with more details on the new rear kit and parking brake solution.

You can click this link to the APEX Google doc on G8x brake clearance. Then you can pick the specific wheel and size on the tabs at the top of that spreadsheet. So, our front kits are good to go with that VS-5RS and no wheel spacer required. Our rear brake kit without a parking brake would also have no trouble clearing. However, we do need to get APEX our wheel fitment templates for our kits with the electronic parking brake. The parking brake detracts from the overall clearance a bit. I'm guessing we'll be good, but we will verify with APEX to be certain. |

I have the CP9668/9449 calipers on my f82. Awesome brake kit! I use PFC 11 race pads and Carbotech 1521 street pads. No compatibility issues with the different compounds.
Interested in seeing a rear kit with the additional parking brake caliper installed. It may look a little odd with multiple calipers but you definitely need it if it’s still a street car with a MT. Jeff - any issues with pad transfer from the parking brake pads when the rotors are hot from a track session? |

We don't anticipate any more issues with pad transfer from the parking brake pads than you would have on any other car with this type of setup (C7 vette, new C8 Z06, Supra, various McLarens, etc.). We haven't seen any issues of that type at all. Here's an M4 with the new rear pbrake setup installed. We made the setup look as tidy, professional, and OEM as possible. We finally have some pictures of the complete rear kit that includes a parking brake. https://www.essexparts.com/ap-racing...g80-m3-enp-epb This kit is available with either anodized or ENP (Electroless Nickel Plated) calipers. The MCS look pretty sweet. The driver/owner told us the car is awesome at Road Atlanta...sadly I haven't had the chance to drive it! |

Hey Jeff! See no mention of brake bias so I’d jump in and ask about it. I’ve heard on the G8x the stock brake bias is a lot more rear biased than prior generations, just wondering if the Essex kit will retain that brake bias, and if yes would you suggest running different compounds front/rear or sticking with one compound?

No. Calipers are designed for a smaller rotor annulus (radial depth of the rotor ring - (OD-ID)/2). CCBs have very large radial depths because they need more surface to dissipate heat. The radial depth of the CP9668/CP9660 have a 54 mm radial depth whereas the CCB front radial depth is somewhere around ~70-80 mm or longer. Even if they did fit, you wouldn’t be able to find a CCB pad compound, which is different from iron rotor pad compounds, on the pad shapes required for the CP9668/CP9660 (54 mm radial depth) and CP9449 calipers (42 mm radial depth).

Sometimes on certain cars, we do have people switch to a more aggressive rear compound to get the car to rotate. A good example would be a Subaru STI. I've had customers run Ferodo DS1.11 front and DS3.12 rear, but we don't generally recommend doing that. We've also had some people run DS3.12 front and leave their street DS2500 in the rear because they simply don't want to change any more brake pads than absolutely necessary. While you can typically get away with that, the problem is that you're shifting work to the front of the car by doing so. The higher mu DS3.12 shifts bias to the front vs. the lower mu DS2500 rear, putting more strain on your front brakes. Again, we don't generally recommend that, particularly if you're running heavy braking tracks, your car is highly modified, etc. Thanks! |
