My first G8X real life viewing

I saw two M4s and one M3 today at the dealer and was blown away.

The M3 is nice but the M4 is incredible. Up until now the 2 door has felt a bit like an after thought, not so this time. The G8X look like it’s designed as a coupe and the M3 is the after thought by putting a 4 door body on the M4.

The M4 is is almost exotic looking. Real life proportions are excellent, it looks butch and wide, not elongated at all. Credit goes to how much it widens around the rear fenders while the greenhouse narrows. It’s lambo light level of widening over the rear wheels. And those rear 826M 20 inch wheels...they look massive and mean as hell. The fronts look tiny in comparison but it fits the overall look perfectly.

The interior is nice but to me it’s all about the exterior of the M4. The 3D experience is something totally different than photos. If you haven’t seen it, do so before settling on the M3. Don’t get me wrong the M3 looks like a meaner evolved F80. But the M4 looks like something all new, way more premium and next level than the F82.

Love it.

Nice thoughts. I'm jealous of all you people who have dealers that get these. I only saw it in a darkish room at M Track Days.

Two notes:

1. The lower black valence. I did check it and no issue whatsoever, looks good.
2. M4 wheel gap. Honestly I forgot about it, so obviously not an issue for me.

Just got back from my local dealership. I had the pleasure of seeing an M4 comp in Brooklyn and BSM. I'm in the camp that have always like the idea of the kidney grill being part of the bumper. The car is F N sick.

I’m leaning black for our M4 competition, the one I saw is IOMG with 826Ms and look spectacular. The black you saw did it have the 826Ms?

I don't know the style number off the top of my head but they're both gloss black. I'd like to describe as an evolution of the comp wheel 666M from the F8X M. You're not getting a Porsche now?

That’s the 826M in black you saw. The cars I saw had the 826M bi color.

I need to drive the M4 comp. before I decide but unless the drive is uninspiring or too close to the F80 I’m in. The scale swayed back to the M4 after seeing it, such a cool car. Strongest I want it feel I’ve had after just looking at a BMW since the first time I saw the E60 M5 on the dealer floor.

I saw both of them again and the sedan is a real looker. I think the side profile is simply stunning compared to the M4. But they both appeal to a market which is great.

2023 M2  [8.00]
Just came back from BMW Seattle and BMW Bellevue.
Things to note, at least for me:
1. The cars look much better than in photos. I think the issue stemmed from seeing that bumper all on its lonesome, like a year ago. In real life, the proportions flow better than in pictures.
2. The carbon seats. Nice to look at, but man, they are snug. Getting in and out is a PITA. Going back to the regular seats, they are comfy. So do your research, sit in them extensively.
3. That clutch sure is odd. Really springy.
4. I love the interior color options, finally something more than just black but doesn't cost an arm and a leg.

I have quite awhile to upgrade but you Washingtonians have me all perplexed now lol. I was set on sedan but then I saw the pics and comments poster transfer made yesterday and I was starting to see his point that the M4 is more gorgeous lol and appears more unique. I am sure next year summer when I am due for the upgrade my mind will me made up as to which one I will get.

They only have one M4, IOMG with extended leather. 6 speed with Silverstone interior. Regular seats. BMW Seattle has more of a selection with the carbon seats.

I didn't take it out, but the sales guy was practically begging to sell it. I'm like dude, you can't sell it till the 9th but he was on full sale mode.
The clutch in that car has some tension, when you depress it, it wants to fly out. It feels different than my M2C for sure. Who knows, maybe its something that you can adjust to quickly. I remember the clutch on my 350Z took some time get smooth at, im guessing this will to.

I hate that. Like an old Honda my boy had in the 90's.

First mod I'll do is a BMS clutch stop.

Ahh If the sedan is your thing, get the sedan. Don't allow people's opinion sway your decision.

I just returned from checking it out. That’s a very nice combo, IOMG with silverstone leather and gloss black wheels. I usually don’t like all black wheels but this combo is a nice balance of light and fresh exterior and interior mixed with the aggressive black trim and wheels. Very nice.
