A cording to the reports of the new subscription model, it will be installed at the factory, but you’ll be able to pay separate for it down the road if you choose to.

During a chat with Andreas Ederer, the head of 4 Series project team, and Jos Van As, the head of 4 Series dynamic team, they told The Drive that one of the reasons that adaptive cruise control isn't standard on many current BMW vehicles is due to the take rate. In fact, it was revealed that less than 25 percent of customers choose to purchase ACC, citing the large gap left between cars while on the road—mainly that drivers didn't want other motorists using the opening to cut ahead in heavy traffic.

In the future, from the looks of it, features like ACC will already be installed, and owners could potentially decide to upgrade after leaving the lot, sometime down the road—which is great for BMW. For consumers, however, we can't help but feel that this cash-grab is rather slimy.

Ummmmmm, when it stands apart from the G20 M340i, 330i models, you mean? How will it be confused as a 4 series?

Actually, the M3 and M4 (and in prior generations, the M3 coupe) are more distinct from the 4 Series (and in prior generations, the 3 Series coupe) than they have ever been before.

Why? Because, they have previously shared both the headlights and the grill with the 4 Series (or 3 Series coupe). But, with the G8x generation, while the headlights are still borrowed, the M models have been given a grill that is distinct from the non-M model for the first time in history.

Why does the M3, the M THREE, have the face of the M4?
Will the M5 also have that? Can i have an M8 with the face of the Z8?

And yeah, i know this has been going on for a while, it still grinds my gears.

Current M340 owner, previous F80 owner. I really wanted to like it but the grills are just too large. And this isn't just hating to hate, I genuinely do not like the look, they dominate the front end and the lower front bumper is far too thin and would need a splitter badly.

Can't wait for people to make this car even uglier than it already is when M colored slats come out.

It's definitely growing on me. When that time comes, I wonder if the 2024/25 G20 LCI will feature the big grills next?

Overall I think this car is going to look absolutely menacing in person and on the street. I believe the mission here for BMW was for the model to stand out and I don't believe anyone will argue that this won't be the case for better or worse. There's never been a bold design that's been universally loved especially at launch but I think this car will age better than the F80/82 which are by the numbers BMW vanilla. The reality is that the F80/83 M3/M4 was usurped by the M2 and BMW had to do something to bring the focus back on their flagship performance cars. Is it the right direction? Time will tell but the fact it's very polarizing IMO is a good thing as the last thing you would want to hear is that it's good or okay which means outdated in short fashion and forgotten.
True, it's very difficult to please everyone but this extreme direction with the front fascia was probably not necessary.

It's also true that the M2 was encroaching into M4 territory, but so was the 918 GT4 into 911 territory. Porsche did make some aggressive changes with the 992 however it still retained it's identity and very recognizable as a 911 even with badges removed. I can't say the same for the G8x. If you debadged the G8x and removed the BMW roundel, most would not guess BMW.

Many will love it, many will not. Only time will tell.

I think you misunderstood my post or you were responding to someone else. I was referring to the person who said that he always puts a lot of work into the vehicles he buys. I have no intention of buying the new 4 series.

Exact reason i'm focused on this is 6MT in the 4-body.....

i'm reserving judgement until i see one in person. My M2C was a stop gap until the G80 came out, the problem is that i love this little car too much and realize that in reality, i don't need a 4 door sedan in my life now.

I was just about to say something similar - as you move through the generations, it gets easier and easier to visually distinguish the Ms from the non-Ms.

There's definitely a stealth factor and some charm associated with the "older" approach. With that being said, I really like how different our M2 looks in comparison to the other 2 series variants.

Indeed. For a long time the, "same sausage, different length," phenomenon plagued BMW, and rightfully so. I'm glad they began distinguishing models more and more over the years.

I agree, there is no way you’ll mistake this for a vanilla BMW. One of the most muscular and mean looking BMWs I’ve ever seen. I can’t wait to get the process going to get one

What do we think the odds of more powerful manual versions appearing down the line are?

Could the M4CS follow the M2CS and offer 500+ hp with manual option?

Not good if you base it on how BMW equipped special high performance models after automatics were introduced in the M cars.
