This is a flash in the pan M3, made for discarders - the same people that buy an M5 or an E63 and dump the car after the lease is over or before for something shinier. Then you get a used market of $50000 M5 with a few miles in a couple of years. This M3 is not the first to be stickered at over $100,000 MSRP with regular options and dealer add-ons for nothing.

We used to get an M3 with Motorsports, now we are getting an M3 with M Performance.

I however later learned how modern turbo charging has an effect on the rated power numbers and make them misleading. Learned that FI and NA rated power numbers simply cannot be compared. Further, a lot of effort was put on the F8X weight and all other performance elements of the F8X were very appealing. All in all, on paper, the F8X was clearly a better car than the E9X, which is why I had a deposit on one before they were in showrooms and before I test drove one. As you say, with the G8X, there is no technological step forward in terms of performance orientation. However I do see several step backwards, such as the size (wheelbase), weight and 8AT. I was recently lucky enough to have driven an F90 M5 on track back to back with a PDK 992C2 for multiple sessions. The ZF8 is decent enough, but it sure is no DCT or PDK (it feels sluggish and disconnected in comparison). Now, that 992, despite feeling relatively underpowered (too say that 379hp is underpowered ), was pure bliss to drive .

You can see it in the press material for the G8X, there is very little emphasis on what was done performance wise to the car (as massively opposed to the F8X). The G8X press material is mostly about the "looks" while the F8X press material was about what is under the skin. That's quite telling IMO.

I have no idea what buyer Bmw was targeting after designing a car like this. So dissatisfied with the new design!

Or he's in the business of building on this channel as a corporate shill. BMW uses him and others for the overtly favorable social media ad placement. He gets access in return so dum dums can subscribe and click like.

And it looks like he's been pretty successful at it. He calls himself mr AMG.

Some of y'all need to get on some meds. Lol

M3+MPerf vs Giulia GTAm

Yes; this is neither a rational nor realistic comparison.
For me at least, they occupy the same emotional space, and I'm left feeling that the Alfa gets its hooks into me more.

The more I see it (especially in black), it looks like a modern RS_ Audi model mixed with Lamborghini accents.. not bad looking, but doesn't really scream BMW M.

Looks a little boy racerish, but if every other brand goes to these extreme designs then it'll be normalized I guess. I find it funny that they blacked out the bottom portion of the bumper like they also thought it was too ugly to show in body color lol.

Can't say I do - fully aware of BMW's history with kidney grilles & that doesn't make this any less ugly. Why didn't they keep working at the wide version of the grille from the 2011 vision concept - that looked great.

Notice that many of the other more radical grilles (eg. the diamond shaped kidneys in the 70s) were on concepts that never made it into production?

Lol... at the e36 front on the G80, but have to admit that the e36 hasn't dated particularly well, but to build a retro design like the Mustang, they'd need to go back to the cars that started it all like the '02 and 3.0csl.

eg. a factory version of the Everytimer Sure - looks a bit plastic here, but it's an aftermarket kit for an e88. BMW could do a lot better, like they did with the 507 / Z8. Great looking car.

One thing is for certain; people like to bitch and complain and hate change. Props to the M division for getting away from normal convention and pushing a more progressive design. When everyone is driving battery powered golf carts, these will be considered classics.

What they should have done is make the center exhaust standard, then make the m permanent exhaust with the regular quad tips as an extra option, because it would sell A LOT more.

Now that more and more videos are being released and the facts are becoming clearer as to what the actual specs will be, I personally love the new look. The extra colors and options are great.

I'm just thankful that it exists. Look at what Mercedes is doing by going buckwild with a 4 cylinder on what they call an AMG car.... no thank you. BMW has always shined on personalizing your vehicle. There is almost always a different engine, trans, suspension, color combo for everyone.

I've been wanting to trade in my Melbourne Red 435i Sportline Coupe for the past couple months. I almost jumped ship to the Porsche GTS4.0 w/ a manual but I'm going to stay brand loyal and upgrade to the new M4 making this the 5th back to back BMW I've owned. I would go with the Comp but I really want the manual trans so I'll stay more then likely stay with the base in the new light green color. Thank God Delaware doesn't require a front plate cause it looks hideous with one.

They've progressed leaps and bounds with the reliability issues that plagued the 90's and early-mid 2000's overall I like the new design language and I think in 15-20 years when everything is electric and the death of the manual is finalized most of these haters will be eating their words.
..I wish we'd have another 10 years of the 6MT... I'm going to guess that BMW will not keep the 6MT for the life of this (G)eneration... I too hope to get a "Pure" 6MT version G82... We've been given a gift that the 6MT entered this generation...

+1
Some ppl just don't take well to change, BMW have a history of pushing the boundaries, if it wasn't for this there would be no ///M cars today. No other car manufacturer is offering this much choice. Kudos to BMW

Seriously some of you really don't get it.

It's not change that people are against, it's bad change for the worst that's the problem.
Imagine BMW actually came out with a generally attractive design with a reasonable weight, much less people would be criticizing it.

So what you're saying is because they provide a 6MT in a new car, even if everything else is horrible we should be thankful?
Well in that case I can sell you a Nissan Versa with a 6MT and you should be thankful too then?

I didn't realize car buyers are such group of people where we need to thank the manufacturer for throwing us scraps.
There are better ways to spend your money than compromising.

When I saw the designer arrive in his sneakers without socks and his pseudo fashionable sport suit, that was the last straw. Sad times my friends.
