Lightweight wheels reccomendations
Hey mates!
Time has come to start preparation for lightweight wheels shopping in 2024. With all my modes, Dp, Mid Pipe, bm3 custom flex tune Im at the limit of my turbo on my 5000ft elevation. Next step would be hybrids but cannot afford this step, and by the way still learning how to manage this power moster when driving on e65 So… my thinking is to reduce rolling mass and look into light weight wheels. What brands you reccomend I should study? Im already familiar with: 1. apex wheels - do not like the design 2. Edelweiss wheels - like the one Griilez went with LT3 and they are ~9kg Open for suggestions but also my budget will be limited. $3-$4k max. Also frustrated as on many websites finding the weight specification is just not possible. |

827M wheels from the CS/CSL are 23.8 lbs front, 24.2 lbs rear. So about 2lbs lighter than the 826M, and 2 lbs heavier than the Edelweiss LT3. If you get them in black they're under $3k for the set (I think I paid $2400). Gold is over $4k.

If you want quality American or Japanese made wheels, isn’t not happening for that price. If you’re ok with Chinese or Taiwanese forged or flow form wheels, they can be had in that range.
Titan-7 are made in China and seem to be the standard for cheap forged track wheels if you’re ok with mostly rep designs. |

The stock wheels (826M) are already pretty light for an OEM wheel, trying to budget your way into lighter wheels likely wont yield and significant results. Got to remember just because certain wheels are technically lighter, which part of the wheel matters as well, is the barrel portion heavier or lighter than OEM or more towards the centerbore. Also something not considered often is tire weight/contact patch/rolling resistance in which case it's very difficult to beat the star marked PS4S. Cup 2 and Cup 2R's are slightly lighter, but every other tire on the market is typically much heavier (24-25lbs vs 28-30lbs).
HRE R101LW and BBS FI-R Evo's are really the only significant upgrades in terms of wheel weight and those are $12k+ options. |

I’ve had HRE R101LW’s on 3 different cars… none better, but as your said, these aren’t budget wheels. Best of the Best!!!! |

Thank you all for the feedback. Really not to much to chose from if weight is the factor. Will have time to think about it but spending 10k on the wheel is for sure outside affordibility range …
