Hi,
I’ve got an M4 in the US of A that I may transfer ownership of to my Dad in Canada. Does anyone know if the factory warranty and or maintenance program will be in effect there? Thanks! |

They will not transfer to Canada. Many Canadians know this because cars are generally cheaper on this side of the border, but they know they lose warranty protection by coming down here to purchase.
Also, check regs to make sure other changes are not required for Canadian registration. For example, US cars have the option of disabling DRL. But they're legally required in Canada and Canadian cars do not have the option to turn them off. There may be other things as well.

The warranty from BMW will be fully transferrable to Canada. The free maintenance will not.

From what I understand, the warranty can transfer, but you need to follow a very strict procedure and make sure before hand that your dealer will honor the warranty, and also contact BMWNA to get them in the known that everything is happening.
The free maintenance definitely does not transfer though. |
