I emailed Genius and asked them what the defect was, and the response was:

"Your car is at the port."

Wow, thanks for the insight, truly helpful.

Once you've entered the VIN, you can bookmark the page showing any recall results to check later quickly!

The tool does everything described below and you don't need to use browser dev-tools. Original post below preserved for reference if ever needed.

Credit first -- this was inspired by Sbm007's post in the Engine stop sale thread:
https://g80.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh...6&postcount=10

The BMW USA recall page doesn't list anything for my VIN saying there is no recall on it.

However, when I tried the UK website for my VIN, I got the information I needed. Here's how you can DIY get stop-sale information.

Go to this page:
https://www.bmw.co.uk/en/footer/quic...e-recalls.html

Press F12 to open developer tools for your browser:
- open the network tab and ensure it's recording network calls happening in the background
- with that open, on the website, enter your VIN and check.
- Filter the network calls by the first few characters of your VIN.

You'll see something like this (attached).

Of course you could get this information from your SA or the BMW Genius (though the Genius "couldn't" tell me what the stop-sale was for when I'd called earlier this week).
Just came to post thank you for compiling this information! Can't believe there aren't more "appreciates" on the OP.

SITUATION
The printed owner’s manual incorrectly specifies that fuel with up to 25% ethanol is allowed.
The label on the fuel filler flap correctly displays that fuel up to 10% ethanol content is allowed.

Fuel grade AKI 91 show; other models vary.

CAUSE
Incorrect information specified in the owner’s manual.

CORRECTION
Add the supplementary sheet to the owner’s manual.

Note: Vehicles will arrive from Vehicle Distribution Centers with the same sheet already in the glove compartment. Although such vehicles no longer show this Service Action as “open” and cannot be claimed for the repair, insert the sheet into the owner’s manual during QC1.
