I purchased from BMW of San Francisco, apparently I am their first manual M3 allocation. They have 6 M4s right now and an M3 but they are all competition spec. This led me to believe that getting the non comp allocation is a lot more difficult and someone mentioned that it seems like they are concentrating on creating more automatics overall.

Thanks man! I am getting mine through BMW of Monrovia. With the VPC at Port Hueneme, the truck transport to the actual dealership should be quick, as it's relatively close

6MT allocations are rare as hens teeth. There seem to be quite a few comps starting to show up + open allocations - around where I am there are 5-6 that I'm directly aware of with build weeks ranging from 12-18. Not a single 6MT open allocation that I'm aware of though.

What area are you in? I didn't know there was an allocation shortage on 6MT base versus the comp. I was under the impression that the allocation just refers to a configuration spot?

I don't know if the options ticked on my build helped at all with my delivery date:

I'm in California. The allocations are for comp or non-comp, so you can't use a comp allocation for non-comp (or vice versa). My order is similar, except I have tartufo interior. Not sure if they're counting tartufo as "individual" - there was no charge. I did hear there were a bunch of tartufo's getting built in March, so was hoping mine got lumped in with those ones

Managed to snag an allocation last week from my local dealer after being told they might not get a non-comp allocation for months. Somehow they found one for me out of nowhere so I'm extremely excited.

When I first placed the order in early February, dealer told me mid April build. But on February 20 it got scheduled for week 12 and this was the case up until yesterday.

Haha I went from black to IOMG, I tried convincing you back in early January to do black.

After I saw the car in person I knew I had to go with IOMG, before I was doing black on black to hide the grille I wasn't sure but after viewing in person it became easy.

Knowing that people do this to M340i and that it's not possible with IOMG and the carbon is way more visible solidified my decision. I have a feeling if I did a black M3 most people will just think it's a 3 series with an exhaust.

How were you able to place an actual order for the AWD version? Presume the dealer just added you to the list for when allocations get released?

Yes there seems to be a shortage of manual allocations from dealers I talked with last week before I found mine. When I ordered mine their was only 38 manual allocations available in the whole U.S and most of those were on the coasts and Texas and such.

tbh the grill was a reason why I DIDN'T consider black as I wanted to smack the grill on everyones face :P

I totally get what you mean, IOMG is unique to the M3/M4 and again, i LOVE the colour but I for myself had to be honest with myself and I know me...I wouldn't be happy on long term with a popping exterior colour.
And I do love black cars, it looks menacing, especially the M3.
Luckily we get this front so you can't really mistake an M340i with an M3, and even if they do I don't give a crap as I know what I'm driving

But as already mentioned in another thread:
with this generation I actually love every single colour you can choose (beside SPY which is just too much for my taste) and I munched my brain with deciding which one to pick.
Portimao Blue, IOMG and Black were my decision colour and I went now finally with black and I do feel happy for the first time with my choice without rethinking now..

They put it in the order bank, take a deposit and it gets filled once slots officially open up.
