That is also a valid reason not to certify. IIRC, it costs about 5-6k to certify an M car above any reconditioning costs needed to bring car up to CPO standards.

There is 2023 one (6MT) in AR / Silverstone, fairly loaded with 4800 miles at BMW of Grapevine in the Dallas area that has been babied for 4800 miles and I can assure anyone that would be more than happy with it.

What about non-catastrophic damage, like reduced engine life? I'm no engineer but I suspect that there is a good reason why BMW has such a short window for doing the break-in service. I would also be concerned that the person who didn't follow the manufacturer's oil change protocol also ignored other recommended practices, such as not red-lining the car during the break-in period.

I'd pass on it.

Whoever screwed up that service obviously didn't give a shit about this car so I doubt they also kept the rpms low as well.

Might not come back to hurt this car but why chance it?

Either way now I'm concentrating on a 21 same mileage used, but its SPY..a bold color. Its service was done exactly at 1205 miles and the car is amazingly immaculate for being used. It appears to have been owned by an enthusiast. Trying to decide if the color is a bit too wow, but overall the car is a great combo of what I'm looking for, price, options etc. On the other end of the spectrum I'm also contemplating just saying forget it all, and throw in an order for a new one. A bit more than I'd like to spend for a 4th car, but at least I'd have piece of mind knowing how its been treated since day 1.
Yellow is probably my least favorite color on a car, but if this is a 4th/fun car, why not? I still have dreams of a bold colored GT3 one day, and I'd definitely do yellow or orange.
But I think the doubt in your mind was definitely enough of an indication that you should have passed on the initial car you were looking at.

If it makes you feel any better my break in service was done at 6k miles(found out after buying)… no other issues just brought it in for maintenance and a general overlook of the health of the vehicle everything seems to be doing well. I was able to get extended warranty.

Update..low and behold local dealer had 2 unspoken allocations left for 24MY and I quickly hopped on it. Expected to get picked up for production as early as next week. IOM 6spd is ordered. More, but will be worth the peace of mind and getting exactly what I want. I greatly appreciate all the help on this forum!
