This would be a major fail on BMW's part IMHO. The GTS was a very decent car for what it was, however it was grossly overpriced.

Is it too much to ask BMW for a RWD 6Speed manual car with over 500 horsepower and less than $100K?!? Because this could be it.
I wonder if Mercedes is doing a Black Series C63S?

The W205 C63 ends production very soon if it hasn't already. And it has no MT option. And the Black Series, if it existed, wouldn't be under $100K. The W206 C63 is rumored to be an I4, but even if it gets an I6 (it absolutely won't get a V8 - 100% no), the same shortcomings I just mentioned apply. And a Black Series model would be about five years away. |

To get a M4 GTS for the same price does not seem 'grossly overpriced' in the least. |

You can bet there will be a CS version as well, but it will have 530hp, so no 6MT for it

Based on mkoesel 's equation, the G82 CSL would have an MSRP of ~151k USD, and that does seem grossly overpriced to me.
We can only hope BMW does not make the same mistake.

Just a differing view: buy a high mileage e92 and deck it out and even with insane engine work, suspension and 1,000 other mods you will have a car that runs the ring as fast, for a lot less, and still be an amazing ///M car.....
Probably could say the same for an f80 but e92 will be cheaper. Either option leaves you with a more unique car, and for a-lot less money.... Shit, I'm starting to sound like a practical 42 year old buzz kill........ Cheers, e46e92

I would never consider an M4 at 150k+ USD

Lemetier said this is coming in 2022 as well... Also weren't there rumours CSL would be performance hybrids?

Hugely interested to see what they cook up here.
Seems a great opportunity to be a positive turning point for M in a few ways. This one should opt out of horsepower/lap times as primary focus. It will be stupid fast, but doubt the G8X platform will allow for it to compete on tenths with C8 Z06 and some others in that upcoming class. Doesn’t need to. Could counter lap times with engagement factor, M driving dynamics. They just pulled it off with the M2 CS. M seats and interiors are leaping forward, they should deliver the CSL equipped like the 620R, with a harness bar, uprated track seats, and harnesses (see them at U.S. dealers like below). Equip with proper track tires (not grandma’s Cup 2), camber and height adjustability, buttons not dials for dampers (dials proven beyond U.S. customers), racing spec brakes, make it durable enough for true track use WITHOUT ANY modification. Let the real Motorsport department do the validation testing on more tracks than the Nordschleife. If they can optimize for strong pace in both rwd and awd modes (where rwd isn’t just drift mode), with 10 stage traction in both settings, that would be incredible and a competitive advantage. Probably wishful thinking, but to be able to switch the settings according to track, mood, etc. would be like have a 2 in 1 track car. These sorts of experiential things would create the 6-figure value imo. (Maybe they can also do a little something with the front end for aero purposes – sorry, had to.)

BMW would surprise me if they put weight at the top of the priority list and kept it RWD. I'm guessing they just take the rear seats out of the AWD version, put a unique hood on, and slap a wing on the back.

Id bet they use the red GT3 grilles as the wow factor, but remember, they look better than the stock version because they are more proportional, and i dont think the csl will be considerably wider than the G82 to make much difference.
I hope eveeyone is wrong and its not an m4/3 variant. No one bmw, no one is buy any M4/3 variant in the 150K+ range, just too much competition and bmw does not command that premuim, m8 case in point. |
