M Performance Exhaust pricing and release date?

My service advisor today said he expects the cost to be between $2K - $4K.

What have you guys heard as far as cost and when it's going to be released?

Are you thinking about picking up an MPE?! Have you heard them on the F8x models? I had only heard it a couple of times and it was LOUD. The price range seems like it would probably be in that ballpark.

I personally want to see what the car sounds like with DPs and flaps permanently opened. I had that set up on the f80 and was plenty tolerable. Plus… hoping the jb4 will have this, but ability to close flaps for longer trips.

Can BMW tell if you've had JB4 installed?

I'm honestly not sure. I haven't heard them on any of the previous generation models. I think it sounds pretty good on the YT video that's out there...

Your advisor doesn't know what he's talking about, it will be $3,000+ for the diffuser and then $4,000-6,000 for the titanium exhaust

The dealership can 100% tell if you leave the jb4 on haha! But I've removed my jb4 and taken my f80 in for service plenty.

And na no MPE for me! I have other plans

Well then it had better come with a 1982 version of Heather Locklear otherwise I will laugh my ass off at them.

All the accessories for this car are pricey, it only makes sense. I'm guessing $10,000 including tax and install. Personally I'm hoping for a more normal m performance exhaust where I can use the standard diffuser for a bit less money, otherwise I'm going aftermarket.

$10k is a good estimate. The diffuser being a prerequisite is why they're not going to sell many. I had no trouble shelling out $5k for an MPE for my F80 (especially knowing I would be getting a subsequent F80 and could use the same exhaust on two consecutive cars).

There is absolutely NO way I will pay for both an exhaust AND a diffuser.

By the end of summer I expect there to be 3 exhaust options utilizing the stock diffuser.

Will there be a normal shaped MPE that can be used with stock diffuser?

Why would anyone buy that hideous looking exhaust? Yuck.
It's like trying to understand why some people thought Biden was the answer...lol.

God help you.

are you saying exhaust options from bmw? I'm hoping they offer a titanium exhaust for the normal diffuser

Aftermarket exhausts are out for me because I worry about my warranty (this is my first M car so I'm not even sure if an exhaust would break warranty)

You really don't have to worry about warranty with an exhaust, and they will not be bringing to market an M performance exhaust that utilizes the stock diffuser.

This sounds about right, I was quoted over $7k with tax from my dealer on my old f80. This looks to be the same if not more because of how exotic it looks.

BMW doesn't know what you installed or what tune you have done. They just look at the peak HP, Boost, MPH, Acceleration numbers, and several other parameters that are logged by the ecu. If you surpass those stock parameters, they know you have done something to make the car faster, thus voiding the warranty (if BMW decides to do so).

I was checking the price of this thing and prepared to overlook its appearance because I loved the mppsk on the 440i. But I found that not only do you need the exhaust and the diffuser but you also need a trim/plastic bit that itself cost more the 1000. Well, no thanks. I’ll wait for other aftermarket exhausts.
