M3 vs Hellcat 1/4 mile times
Hey guys,
Fairly new member here. In the process of trying secure an allocation for a 2022 M3. I have a 2016 charger hellcat. I'm curious if the times being posted on motor trend is what everyone is running. I don't see any time slips yet. I'm fully aware that that's not all these cars are made for. However curious if anyone has made it to the drag strip yet? I also do notice something weird and maybe someone can explain this to me. These cars are running roughly 11.6 and trapping from 122-125 which is almost identical to a stock Hellcat. However I noticed the 60-130 is extremely far off. 8.1-8.4 stock hellcat compared to M3/M4 are mid 9s? why such a big gap for almost identical 0-60 and 1/4 mile times? |

Maybe because everyone launches the hellcat like crap and hellcat does better on the top end due the way more horsepower 200 more then then the m3. Horsepower is better top end

for a hellcat to run 11.6-11.7 stock. Their 0-60 is 3.6-3.7 as well. We're talking the last 4-5MPH before it hits 130. Can't believe it would take the M3 an extra second for the last 4-5MPH after the 1/4. I just thought it was weird. I'm hoping with mods this will get the M3 down to low 5s 60-130 in the future.

I never would consider a M3 for the task you're going for, I think your Hellcat would rule the roost as most American muscle cars generally do after launch. I think the new Z06 will be a beast. |

Nah, RS3 is a little too small and it's kind of bland for me. I sat in m4 yesterday and fell absolutely in love with it. I'm hoping with X3M/ X4M running mid to high 10s with some basic mods. The M3 being built on the same motor will be able run low 10s? That's why I'm getting the 2022 model so I can get AWD. If this car doesn't ever get there, that'll be fine. I'll get to enjoy a drivers car and have some fun around some twisties that my hellcat couldn't provide at all. |

Would think in a 1/4 mile the M will blow away the Hellcat on the launch & for the rest of the 1/4 the Hellcat will be in catchup mode.
Hellcat should either blow past the M at or just after the finish line. Hellcat has too much bottom end torque for non drag slick runs. Available traction is not so much of an issue at 60mph for the Hellcat.

I'm going to put my down payment for AWD M3C in about an hour and test drive the M4 they have on the lot. I'm still trying to decided if i can live without the carbon exterior package and if i want to pay 5500 dollars for Frozen Dark grey instead of just going with drevit grey.

I personally order my M3C AAD fully loaded sans CCBs which I think are pointless. the CF exterior package is ~$13,500 if you price our each piece before installation. It's well worth getting from the factory

Take this with a grain of salt. My first/only 60-130mph time. You can see the air is not the best, and the run is "not valid." But, I definitely think I replicate this run with good air and flatter ground; meaning make it valid.

M4 kept up and probably will walk the Hellcat with some light mods as well.

I went with the CF exterior pack on my AWD M3 after going back and forth forever. I would regret it if I didn’t do it. I ended up spending like $1k on Carbon parts for my M340i, so I’ll just order the way I want it. I don’t think the extra weight of the AWD will have any effect on a 1/4 mile race. That’s not enough distance. |
