Remote engine start add on via software update?

Wasn't available when ordering but looks like I can buy it OTA? This is manual g80 in Canada. Thoughts?

I might be wrong but it’s a no cost option for the Competition’s/ Auto’s and it’s not available on the manuals. So is the digital key.. I think?

Correct. From factory. However this is after purchase on the connected drive site.

Because the manual has sensors to detect what gear the car is in, it should be possible to enable remote start only if it's left in neutral. But I doubt they'd ever do that.

Update both dealer and connected drive say that it is possible and I should buy it. They both claim a software update enabled it.

Bought it last night. This morning I got in and it said installing. Will let you know.

Edit - update failed. Needs to go in for service lol.

In the new mybmw app I clicked the profile button at the bottom. Then click the connected drive store. Log in. Make sure you're on the right vehicle.

Just a warning. You'll need to go to the dealership to have It setup properly

what do you expect to happen if you start and nobody depresses the clutch?

The remote starter bypasses the clutch. The vehicle must be in neutral and have the parking brake activated in order to successfully start. Once entering the car you are instructed to depress the clutch and hit the start/stop button.

Anyone know if this is available in the US? My dealer says my 6MT cant be retrofitted with it.

It is not a retro fit and no dealer would know about this. You just have to try after you take delivery. If it's in Canada it's in US

If it's not too much trouble would you be able to ask your dealer for a write up of this install? I am super interested in it but my dealer may be looking in the wrong places.

The dealer just updated the software. Once I purchased it in the mybmw app and attempted install within the car the option to activate it was there. However I couldn't turn it on.

The service record just says, "software updated"
