Drop in filter?

Has anyone added a drop in filter yet? Are they even out yet?

Curious to hear how that sounds.

Thats a bummer. The F80 sounded awesome with them. Hopefully this motor will react the same way.

I agree and I hope so as well. I don't see why it wouldn't. It shouldn't be long now before K&N comes out with something. Hopefully by august we have them.

Is it possible the air filter is the same as the m440? Look at the 2021 g80 vs the m440 filter from k&n website. Are the air filters on both sides identical?

Looked at some more pics. Both sides appear to be the same. This would be the equivalent bmc. Gentlemen i think these may be it. Someone just needs to test fit, i dont have a car...

I wonder are the OEM part numbers the same. That'd give a good indication if they are in fact the same

You gotta lubricate them after cleaning.

I think M440i only has one filter?! The picture on K&N website shows front and back of the same filter!

I've heard people complain about the oil in the filters being bad for MAF sensors or some shit. What's the deal with that and is it better to wait for a dry filter like K&N? Seems weird to have oil filters when OEM is dry and k&n make a dry one.

Thanks

I think this topic is like 'driving the car in' versus 'breaking it in.'

Personally, I fall in camp of driving a new car like I stole it right out of the gate. Am I right? Only for me and anyone who feels similar to me regarding the topic.

As this pertains to the oiled filters, I am of the camp that oiled filters are perfectly safe. I installed K&N filters on my F87C. Did they make a significant difference? No. As with removing the charcoal filters, I do believe they offered a subtle increase in 'induction' decibels with aggressive throttle/high in the rev range. Did they ever hurt anything? No.

My conclusion: they do not hurt nor do they do offer meaningful advantage over stock filters. Some might say they have dyno results proving their filters offer, for example, 5hp gains over stock filters. Perhaps true, but insignificant.

Finally, with regard to a couple other questions asked in this thread:

Top pic is stock F87C filters.
Second pic is K&N filters.
Third pic is G80C air filter box.
Do not see any way the F87/80/82 filters would fit the G80/82. PLife post above (of my prior post) also confirms.
Fourth pic is label that came with K&N filters
Indicate 'the use of K&N air filter will NOT void your vehicle's warranty.'
