Best strategy is tell yourself 10k then drive it without reservation... then you won't be disappointed. If you aim for 25k you might find yourself actually attempting to save the tires at the expense of driving fun

The diameter of all 4 tires must stay within 1-2% of each other for xdrive to work.
Given we are talking about roughly 6-7mm here, why would you also change the fronts with the rears? Is the difference in worn rears (3mm) and half worn fronts (6mm) more than half worn fronts (6mm) and new rears (9mm)? |

I was told this years ago about Subaru AWD but I have never had a problem replacing tires as needed in BMWs with xDrive. I got 14k out of the rears and 25k on the fronts on my F80. Those were PSS. I'm estimating I'll get 14-15k out of both front and rear PS4S on my G20. Will be happy if I get more than 10k out of the rears on my G80. My all time record was 40k out of the OE Michelin Latitude tires that came with my X5.
