I can connect Alexa to my my BMW app but on the app it says the G82 isn't supported. Are we not on idrive version 7? Anyone got it working?

I found instructions for Alexa setup here

and followed them to the letter. I can say "Alexa" in the car and get a response but when I ask a question it says something to the effect of "complete Alexa setup to proceed". I think that we need a BMW/Alexa app actually installed in the car to make it work, which does not seem to be available in the NA region yet. I know UK and maybe other parts of EU work and I've seen references to this app there. Hopefully it's just an issue with slow rollout and we will eventually get it.

Thanks so much for trying. I too followed the same video instructions and I believe you're actually right, I don't think this is available in North America.

Mapping, music, general questions. Alexa has the best natural language processing imho.

I have both Alexa and Google in my house and much prefer Alexa for home automation, if for no other reason than when I ask her to do something she just says "ok" as opposed to, "ok, setting the bathroom brightness to 100%" that Google gives me. I know what I asked you. No need to repeat it. I don't know why Google hasn't fixed this. I find Google gives me better answers for general life questions and directions with Google maps though, even though I universally use Waze in my car. I'm likely to almost never use the stock nav now that wireless android auto is so well integrated.

Same reason as me. Home automation control is much easier with Alexa.

There was a massive software update today. In the release note it actually said Alexa integration. I updated it and nothing. The app still says it's not supported and it doesn't work. I'm quite disappointed.

Woohoo. Just tried and rebooted. Alexa is now working. Finally.

Anyone in the US able to get Alexa working? I see the app now in idrive 7 or whatever it's called, but no matter how many times I follow the connect steps it still doesn't work.

Yeah apparently all the new cars have the updated software that supports Alexa. Mine is still on March build with no updates available. Annoying.

I'm not sure what I'd ask Alexa to do in my car though since I really only use it for home automation stuff and use Google for everything else.
