And how are K40 setups these days? All the exotic guys around here run them with the laser dazzlers but I'm still picking up radar sooner with my dinky littler Radenso. I'd love an integrated system some day.
There is only one company that make jammers that work on every Lidar gun on the market 100% of the time if set up properly and that is anti-laser priority. That’s a fact. Most other jammer companies are gimmicky. Some work a little bit most just don’t work on difficult Lidar guns. That’s a fact. Anti-laser priority also gives very good support. it is expensive though. It’s also a very difficult install because it’s time consuming. I will do my best to do a quick video on my system on my G80 this weekend weather permitting.
What makes the ALP install that much more complicated than a typical K40?

V1Gen2 is superior to its predecessor. Check out Vortex radar. He's pretty much the authority in testing radar detectors. For 2021 he rates the redline 360 is the best detector however it's very pricey. The V1 gen2 comes in third behind the uniden r7

Yes the V1G2 is worth it. You can probably sell your old V1 on ebay for decent money and upgrade

I don’t know if it’s more complicated to install I just know ALP works and K40 doesn’t.

I find the GPS function of the Escorts to keep things much more peaceful than the Valentine's and since Mike seems to think that GPS is pointless I'm not sure I'd go back. I know there is the app, but it's one more hassle to have to open every time.

I have x and k turned off on my Valentine because they only use Ka and laser here. Plenty quiet that way. No static false alarms, so GPS doesn't matter to me. The third party apps, particularly JBV1, are pretty sweet. Lots of features that come in handy on long trips, especially if you want to use dark mode on the detector.

You're in Texas? Plenty of K band in Texas. Some local municipalities in the Houston area, San Antonio, San Marcos are just a few I can remember. K band mostly reported in the smaller police departments outside of the big cities

I am in Texas and believe you're right about that. Will turn k-band back on for road trips, but GPS wouldn't do much for me on those. I see the benefits of GPS lockouts on normal local routes, but have k turned off locally so not a big deal for me. I appreciate views can differ on that

I think it's a patent issue that escort owns. If you have a iPhone you can use v1 driver which adds gps and a ton of other functionality.

The app connects in the background and you don't even need to open it or do anything once you do the initial setup

Correct. It is a patent with Escort. However it doesn’t cover apps on smart phones. So just like being able to use the app with the valentine same thing goes with NetRadar DSP using a smart phone. You can also use GPS on that with lockouts. Most serious countermeasure enthusiast have a strong dislike for Escort.

I have a strong dislike for having to use an app (V1) with my detector to get the full power out of it.

I never bothered with K band when I lived in Houston.

Do you guys with the R7 mounted and mirror-tapped find it difficult to press the mute button? That's one of the biggest reasons why I stick with the original mount (on the bottom center location) with the wires hanging to the right side of the center console screen, and plugged into the cigarette lighter in the middle of the cup holders, so that my hand can easily press the mute button when needed.

Uniden DRF9 just above the center dash, powered by cigarette lighter. Very unconventional and out there, but it works.

This is where I think I will mount it. Though the detector is legal in California they can ticket you for obstructing vision. At least on the central California coast and corridor.
