Charcoal filter
Do a Google search plenty of back to back dyno runs on various BMW's that show removal of the charcoal filters provide improved performance.
Does this apply to the S58 I would assume so buy IDK for sure.

I noticed almost no sound change but is very easy to do. Don't bother trying to take off those plastic grids over the charcoal filters. They are soft. Just pull them right through the grids.

I took mine out yesterday. Not hard and maybe 20 minutes not hurried. I don't think I heard any change in induction volume but passengers and I thought the exhaust burbles and sound were a little louder? Windows were up as it was hot out so will try with windows down as I was able to here turbo's whine down with windows down before removing. Maybe just placebo effect but in any regards it's easy to do and try. I can't wait for a good filter or after market cold air system to come out.

Sorry to resurface this, has anyone else done this? I keep reading that the G80 compensates for any increase in air to keep the power the same?
But noise is my question, if this does give more of an induction noise it would be worth it |

Zero noise change for me as well. But already threw them in the trash. No need for any more restrictions on this car than it already has lol.

I pull them out in all my cars that come with it.
On the S58, it did not show any butt-dyno noticeable improvements or induction noise level. Just nice to know that air if flowing a little better w/out any EPA induced restrictions.

Remove them and give the plastic trays a yank too and they'll come out. Put in a good drop in filter (BMC or BMS) and you're all set. ~8RWHP and a bit more noise.

I'm glad I can amuse you but the gain is from the drop in's and the charcoal filter removal/screens. F80s have seen similar gains as well apparently.
