PPF + Ceramic coating?

I'm getting my new G82 in a few days and I'm going to do a full body PPF and ceramic coating. The shop I've been talking to is asking $6.5K CAD which is about $4800 USD, and the job is going to take 3 to 4 days.

Is that a fair price? They said they will dismantle the bumpers to make sure the edges are invisible and they have pretty high ratings from what I've seen on google.

Any pointers? The car will have basically 0 miles when I hand it over, and I can't get the idea of someone joyriding it while it's at the shop out of my head.

That's a very reasonable price. They shouldn't have to pull your bumpers to tuck the edges though. Make sure they ceramic your wheels and barrels and calipers while it's there.

Just for a full PPF, not even including ceramic after, that’s a great price.

That’s a great price! It averages $5-7k in the Bay Area for ppf and ceramic

It's almost *too* good of a price!

What film are they using, and are you able to see any of their current work?

It cost me 4600 USD for full front (up to A pillars), full body ceramic coat and window tint. For entire car, I’d say it’s a great price, esp. if they are extending the cuts to roll over the edges.

I’d make 100% sure that they are very reputable, esp. if they are taking off panels and stuff. I’ve heard some horror stories of too good to be true PPF jobs.

Better price than anything I’ve found.
Best around here was $6k ppf/tints/ceramic.

Ended up going a little higher and doing the ceramic myself as the location was too far away that offered the best price.

I would def take that deal, especially if you know they are good.

I really don’t understand why retailers are still offering ceramic coating on top of their PPF’s?

If they are a top Detailer and they use the top two brands 1. XPEL 2. SUNTEK - they shouldn’t be offering ceramic coatings.

Both of these films come with a pre embedded/applied ceramic coating which they offer a 12 year warranty on. Detailers must be upset about this new offering because 1. It’s cost them business on their ceramic coating offerings and 2. It is not that much more expensive than their standard films that they offer, therefore not justifying to add too much extra to the quote.

I’m getting Suntek Reacting PPF applied to my car as recommended by my Detailer, who also suggested to me don’t waste my money on a ceramic coating due to this new type of film. It may help that I’ve used him for YEARS and spent a lot of £$ with him over a short period.

Here’s the link to read about it - https://suntekfilms.com/na/en/paint-...film/reaction/

Congrats on the new car! Be sure to explain to the shop owner that it is a new car, not broken in yet, and that you insist that no one drive it at all.

I don't get why anyone would put any treatment on top of plastic wrap. Waste of money, IMHO.

Congrats on your car! That’s an awesome price for PPF and ceramic. I paid close to $7k as mine was paint corrected, PPF’d (front, side mirrors, a pillars, roof-is a definite, rear rockers and rear bumper) and ceramic coated. As mentioned earlier, make sure they do the wheels, barrel, brake caliper. Also, no body parts need to be removed.

Just ridding you of 500 quid lol. 2 years as well that’s a cheap ceramic coating. Most professional coatings are 5 years

That’s cheap. As others have said, take a really good look at what they have done. Look around at other shops. The cheap price would make me question just how good they really are. I have seen some absolutely butchered ppf jobs.

I have been looking at a full PPF that gives your original paint color a matte finish but it was like $7800 with the windshield getting protection. In the end it didn’t feel worth it since I have an amazing body shop that can paint damaged panels.

Ceramic requires an annual maintenance. They say they last 5 years but they don't, especially in certain climates.

OTC ceramic is 2 years. Literally every product. Professolional ceramic is 5 years, which isn’t available to the public to buy, only certified retailers.

Professional ceramic isn’t 500 dollars also, a lot more north.

yes on the PPF...

but it also scares me that PPF can cost over $6000 to $7000.

the very first brand-new car that I bought in my life was US$6800. Okay, so I'm old, but still....

That's super cheap for a good quality PPF alone. Even pre-cut one like premium shield or XPEL, cost over 6k...

By the way, makes literally zero sense to ceramic coat the PPF. Protect it with PPF maintain like the one from Gyeon, which you can simply use after every wash, and that's more than enough.

Good quality PPF itself is already water repelling and has UV protection.

Probably to make sure the edges are wrapped. A lot of guys do that, but I agree I don’t want them dismantling my bumper for ppf.
