BMW genius doesnt seem to have info on tracking

Hey Everyone,
Sorry if this is just a new guy question or covered somewhere else. I have my first BMW on order, an M3 base that is currently in transit. I called BMW genius last week to try and get some more detailed info on when the car may arrive in the states and the woman I spoke with seemed confused why I was calling and said she only had access the the same info I see on the bmw my garage site. She had no additional info to share on the timeline of when I would get the car and how long each step took. It seems like others have been able to get a ton of more detailed and up to date tracking info from bmw genius so I figured I would ask, did I just get a bad rep from bmw genius or is there not anything additional we can get from them? For those who may ask, I have read the sticky that breaks down the build and deliver timeline, its just that theres a couple weeks or more of float in that timeline and was wondering if I could get something more accurate now that the car is on a boat headed over here. Thanks!

"in transit" means on a ship? If so, ask them and/or your sales person which ship and what port it's going to. Once you have that, you can look up the ship schedule.

She may not have any additional details about "timeline," but she should be able to tell you what ship the car is on (which you can then look up in one of a dozen marine tracking websites or shipping schedules to get the timeline). I would just email bmwgenius@bmwusa.com with your order number / VIN and ask them to look it up for you. Your CA (dealer) should also be able to look up this information.

There are too many issues in the current market and no one can guess what your delivery timeline might look like.

Every build is looking different and people are getting stuck in a process without any logic or reason. You might have to take one step at a time and no expect a delivery timeline. No one including BMW employees cannot provide you that information.

His post was vague, but it sounds like his car is on a ship and his question is when will it arrive in the US. He should absolutely be able to find out.

Thanks everyone that gave some helpful feedback. I will call genius again now that the car is in transit. They couldnt tell me before when it would get put on a ship but hopefully now they can tell me which one its on. I wish I could go to my sales rep for info but hes been frustrating to work with and slow to respond. I guess I shouldnt be surprised with how these things sell themselves right now. Thanks!
