None with midpipe only. Usually this happens when stacking exhaust mods to going with a full system without resonators.

Catless downpipes/midpipe and a Race muffler will most times sound awful under load and get a ton of attention, including the unwanted kind. However, this seems to be where the trend is going - who can be the loudest. Keep the exhaust mods on the conservative side and it will sound fantastic.

Tall Tom Cruise is running ER Downpipes/PSI midpipe and should be able to chime in with his experience on his setup.

I have the Valvetronic single mid.

The construction quality is amazing, really is a work of art in the flesh.

It sounds very good but obnoxious at all. It only makes it's presence felt in sport +, in economic mode it sounds the same as stock which I like. Zero Rasp! It basically Sounds like the stock exhaust but with more deeper louder bass tone, with some subtle pops on over run and down shifts. It's perfect for those who want more noise but you don't want something way OTT

Then leave it alone. But seriously, you won't need to smog this car for 8 years. Are you going to keep it that long? You can change out any of these midpipes back to stock in 30 minutes. Keep the stock midpipe in the garage.
Do you want the electric m3 in 8 years they're going to sell instead?

Unless you are in CA, then everything has to do with smog
How? There is nothing in a resonator that reduces emissions. A resonator reduces certain frequencies of sound.

Per CA laws any exhaust or intake component has to be Carb approved.

I have seen them flag a car for an upgraded charge pipe.

Cali doesn’t even do the sniffer test as part of the smog process anymore; it’s just strictly visual and OBD2 only

I believe cali doesn't even smog vehicles for the first 8 years and then every 2 years there after, although I'm sure that's subject to change.

They wanted me to get my 4yr old GTR (at the time) smog, in order to register it, since I was coming from CO. And it failed miserably. I didn't know I was coming back to CO at the time, so I just sold it to avoid the communistic rules of CA. And trust me, I tried to infiltrate the racing clubs and tried to bribe several smog shops before I sold it. Putting it back to stock, would have cost me $5k. $2k minimum to at least pass the OBD test.

But I digress... I got the PSI for my M4. Best bang for the buck, IMO. And sound, it seems based on comments, is similar among midpipes. So why pay more.

The sound from the midpipe is different depending on the design or if it's catted, etc

More expensive does not mean better sounding; it's a personal preference.

after reading this thread I'm thinking of an AA Single mid pipe and Remus Axle back on my G80 M3 when it comes in, do you think that would be too much, I like exhausts that can be heard, currently have a glc 63amgs with resonators removed and feel it could be a lot louder.
My F80 M3 had a turner mid pipe and a milltek axle back and I liked that sound. I want something that pops and burbles, can't get enough of those..

A single midpipe goes with everything; it makes the sound deeper and more refined in the midrange. I have not heard this combo yet, but im sure it'll sound excellent

I would give our downpipes a look. Forum members have had nothing but great things to say about our fitment, quality and pricing.
