How do you put the car in dyno mode?

Showed up to my first dyno day on Sunday and waited my turn. When I was lining the car up the operator asked me if I had put it in dyno mode. I had no idea this was a thing.

Anyway, anyone have any clues because I've now seen some dyno vids confirming that there is indeed a dyno mode. My car is a base M4 6MT for what it's worth.

1:20 shows how to get to the dyno mode. This is for M3 but I believe it's the same for M4.

With engine off,
Triple click Start button
Hold BC button until a menu appears in center dashboard (about 18-20 sec)
Click BC button to navigate to dyno mode
Hold BC button over dyno mode selection to confirm
Turn DSC off
Click BC button to confirm you have DSC off
Start engine

How do you turn dyno mode off afterwards? Just turn off the car?

Thanks for this. I tried it out on my base M4 manual today and found that you must also hold the brake pedal while attempting to get into dyno mode. Additionally, you must hold the BC button for several seconds.

I made a quick youtube vid if anyone wants to see it in real time.

I can confirm that for the competition model with ZF8, you do not need to hold the brake while entering dyno mode.

Does anyone know the 1:1 gear ratio of the ZF8?

How is it possible for 6th gear to go to 182mph? Then how fast do 7th and 8th go? That sounds really high

I'm thinking those of us that don't have the M Drivers Package are screwed until tunes are out.

In that case I will try 5th gear, from past experience, the difference in results isn't that significant.

I am assuming for AWD you have to first put the car into 2WD mode before entering dyno mode?

You should use an awd Dyno on those models in case the transfer case changes into 4wd for any reason. Generally that is disaster.
