Yuuuuup

Good news for you though... I'm waiting on an M3 Base. Unfortunate typo from before from copy/paste from a previous reply.
I'm waiting for one at Towson. My sales lied to me the whole time saying I'm gonna be the next one up for allocation. After deposit money. Dude tried everything to stall me from calling him. He even used the excuse, "my dog bite me, So I won't be at work ."

#6 on waitlist, dealer says they're hoping for a march production date since they're a very high volume dealer

No, MSRP. Not sure if it matters, but I've bought two cars from them in the last two years and have another (i4 M50) on order with them.

Build is scheduled by mid of march. Assuming there isnt a lot of delays, dealer is expecting delivery by end of may.

Is anybody looking for an available M4 allocation? If so, DM me. I can get you one at MSRP.

Haha, nice to see someone familiar with JMU. Wish I could help you out with the M3, but those allocations are harder to come by.

Just updating thread here and for posterity:

Received Production Number after approx. 4 months. Awaiting Production Start Date. Originally this major dealer in AZ told me they did not receive any allocations for Jan/Feb but was hoping that'd pick back up March-April. No idea how I fit in there but I went from 4th in line to getting allocation in about 2 weeks. Hopefully this helps anyone looking around! Seems like maybe a little surge in allocations?

Is this for g80? Also thinking that people have their names on multiple waitlist at different dealers or they change their mind. I've been on a waitlist for 4months now and the dealer hasn't received any g80 allocations in a few months now.

I also spoke with BMWFS a couple to weeks back since my 6-month extension is expiring in March. I was told they will extend my current f80 lease for another year but at a slightly different rate and to call back in March.

That's a dangerous assumption. My car has been been in quality hold since November (August allocation) and they don't know when they will have touch screens in to release it. I would be ready for a fall delivery.

I have been following most threads for a while (especially QC and purgatory threads) and aware of whats happening. Several people are making pretty good progress as well.

My build is a pretty basic one and i am in no hurry to take delivery. My previous comment was just a reply with i heard from the dealer.

Based on what I know about the current state of the supply chain for electronics, I'd say that the situation continues to improve. I posted here back in August that I thought the chip industry had reached an inflection point, and if you look at filings over the last quarter, you can see that demand is closer to 100% (it was hovering around 150%) of supply than it was six months ago.

Several semi suppliers have started issuing more favorable ship dates to their (particularly automotive) customers, and I suspect this translates into a slight increase in available allocations for us.

For people whose cars got built and entered QC hell, that is kind of a worst case scenario because these cars will likely be the most difficult (logistically) to retrofit because those systems and processes didn't previously exist on a large scale.

So, while hysteresis is indeed a thing, there is no way to predict that everyone's car will be held up for months after being built simply because that was the norm in the second half of 2021.

After my SA (Reza at Bellevue BMW) emailed with order number, I said "hopefully there are no parts shortages, etc", and his reply was "Once we get the allocation, it means BMW has all the parts they need to build your car."

FWIW.
