I've been back and forth so many times. I'm waiting to see if Skyscraper Gray is added to the MY22 colors. If so, I may go that over Fiona Red. What about you?
First time ordering so not sure what to expect, doesn't help with the chip shortage and etc. but this'll be my 4th M3 generation I've owned.

I change colors in my head about 8 times a day. I'm to the point where if I don't get an allocation soon, I'll just buy outer island stock, otherwise going all in with individual M4 Fire Orange, black carbon buckets, CCB, full black wheels or Twilight purple on KO.

Because of the wait and that the options I want doesn't help, I may just buy the cheaper stock w/o buckets and make sure I like it enough to build one to spec when LCI.

Miss the F80 and hating every moment I need to drive my wife's VW Tiguan.

Is it safe to pay the deposit to the broker instead of to the dealer directly?

Paid the broker fee deposit, not the car/dealer deposit. They won’t take that until they have the allocation.

Interesting, yeah they told me "...not to worry about the deposit until we have the production number". Will be interesting to see if we have any allocation movement in the next few days. Glad I'm not alone in this boat!

I went through a broker as well. Paid the broker their fee and paid a deposit to the dealership. If I pull out, I’ll get the deposit from the dealership back, but I’m now 61 days in...no sense in pulling out now unless I was gonna find something on a lot that I liked and could get a decent deal on (I look daily; it’s not happening).

Edit: “that’s what she said”

i hope it all happens soon. this is my wife's car...her 3rd M4...and we sold her leased vehicle, last month, because the used market was just too good to pass up. but i think she's tired of driving her daily Civic Si, daily, and is starting to get a bit antsy.

Yup, me too! I'm in no immediate rush for the car — from a practicality perspective — but I really want it NOW. Let me know if you hear anything!

Luckily for me the dealership is only 15 miles from my house. Got lucky!

In 2016 I was "waiting for an allocation" for many many months. I was new to the brand and thought I was getting into production any day. I went to the dealership down the road and they gave me a production number within 20 minutes.

Awesome. Not sure of the relevance now, but cool story.

It was kind of a cautionary tale. Maybe for "deep thinkers" like yourself it should have been labeled as such?

I just went to the dealer and I have a production number but status 47, should update within a week or two they said. Not impossible to get bumped to a 2022.

When I agreed to MSRP at the time, it seemed like I was missing out on some discount opportunities being found on RWD models. Fast forward to now and it seems like MSRP and having the first deposit down for a AWD allocation isn't such a bad spot to be in. Hopefully it all works out and all of us waiting are able to get what we're seeking without insane markups or delays.
