Strut Brace Torque Values

Does anyone happen to have the torque values for the strut brace nuts and bolt? I've searched high and low, but can't find the info anywhere. I called my local dealer and they weren't any help either.

TIA

Perhaps someone from IND-Distribution can chime in. Perhaps the Fall-Line strut brace comes with recommended values? I won't know until mine arrives later this week.

I can tell you that when I installed the Downstar dress up kit and replaced all the bolts on the strut brace, the factory bolts came loose with very little effort using a socket wrench.

I saw a post here that said 28Nm and then I heard from the dealer yesterday something like 56Nm and that the bolts weren't reusable so I don't know what to believe at this point. The SA that I work with has some repair info that he's saving for me which I'm going to try to pick up tomorrow.

This is like trying to find Waldo. I know it's out there somewhere. Just haven't found it yet.

Really surprised I haven't seen a workshop manual/PDF floating around somewhere. Guessing BMW keeps these on lockdown?

How about the torque values of all the exhaust components since we're on this topic?

I'm about to do the PSI mid pipe install and info is very ambiguous on the internet. I did come accross this video from PSI.

And at 6:30, the guy says, "... if you don't cut it perfectly, you're going to have some equipment issues...". So, what am I supposed to be aware of, when cutting? What kind of issues should I be aware of?

And don't get me wrong, I did my own work when I upgraded my GTR to FBO/e85 (minus the downpipes and tuning). But just seems like aftermarket for S58 is eager to sell, but not support, IMO. PSI box came with 'zero' instructions, diagrams, inventory list, but a nice 'thank you, note.

I got the answer from my dealer this morning. The below screenshot came from AIRS using my VIN. Looks like it's 28Nm. My SA said the same value applies for the V shaped brace as well although they didn't have a photo of that one.

In the end, does it really make a difference if the bolts are set to a specific torque or if you just make sure they are tight?

I really have no idea. I just wanted to make sure that I did it "right".

Any verification on that center 15mm bolt? That bolt was in there was significantly harder to remove compared to the other 13mms which required almost no effort to loosen.

I believe it was 15mm, but honestly I don't remember. It was definitely harder to get out than the others.

28nm isn't very tight. My torque wrench doesn't go that low. Wondering if i can just do them up snug but not too tight and be fine.

Agreed, I did the 28nm for all bolts, but definitely the center bolt was a lot harder to get out.

I wonder if it were more ...

That bottom center bolt is 56nm according to the Mishimoto intake installation instructions.

Hmm, so when you install the CSL brace I guess all three are 56nm?

Can you post the link to this please?

That center one is angle torqued (56nm + 90 degrees) and shouldn't be re-used according to the instructions

Not sure if things are the same for this platform, but I remember on the E85/6 Z's some folks would get popping noises if they didn't torque these correctly, and some people would snap the studs off as well.

Can appreciate doing it “right” but it really doesn’t matter here. I’ve taken this thing off 20 times , it’s “tight with a 3/8 drive” for the center bolt and snug for the rest. But yes the torque specs are in the mishimoto intake manual, it’s available for download on the product page.
