Finally secured allocation @ MSRP

Just wanted to announce that after several weeks I finally secured an allocation at MSRP for an M4 6spd!

Out of state dealer near my sister, so I can justify a family trip out of the deal.

Dealer originally quoted me MSRP + $5k market adjustment and stated I would be #2 on a wait list. I countered their offer stating I had walked away from an MSRP + $1k deal with allocation a few weeks earlier and would only make a deal at MSRP.

Client Advisor spoke to the GM, and not only came back to me with agreement at MSRP but also secured an allocation same day. I have production number in hand with the vehicle in 111 status.

The client advisor did tell me they have a customer who has been waiting 9 months for his M3 to enter production. I am REALLY hoping that is a one-off and not typical and that my M4 will go into production within the next 2 months or so. I am really anxious to see the build go to 112 status and what the assigned build week is.

The agonizing wait begins!

Congratulations!

I'm a few weeks behind you - just put a $1k deposit down today (car at MSRP). Two orders in front of me but I can expect car by late June early July according to dealer....

We shall see....

Does that matter? I secured an M4 at msrp a few weeks ago and the dealer did not care in the slightest which model I ordered. In fact, I started w the plan to order the base manual, but changed to the xDrive. I think a dealer is given an allocation and then chooses the model, but perhaps I'm mistaken.

It depends dealer to dealer. I think at the highest level, you can configure them to be whichever you want according to people on this forum, but different dealerships have their own preference. For example, my dealership and many others are keeping separate waitlists for an m3 RWD vs m3 AWD. Maybe it's because reconfiguring them is too much of a hassle, who knows.

It's the easiest thing to do. It's a drop down menu and you select the model within the ordering system.

From what I have heard so far is that you get to choose either AWD or RWD for the same allocation. Therefore, It might not make a difference at least from where I am located at. I know CA has been surcharging, but Chicago and Indiana areas are mostly following MSRP.
