The BMW B58 engine can handle around 600-650whp and 550-600wtq on the stock block and internals
B58 in question wasn't just re-tuned, the hardware's been changed. A different exhaust manifold uses six ports instead of “six into two” and revised pistons change the compression ratio from
That's because this is the Gen 1 B58. The newer generation of B58's have the newer intake manifold that go into to ports

To avert an impending hydrolock scenario is it possible shut off the engine with the car in motion? Never tried it.

Oh yeah. People hydro-lock engines all the time by driving in deep water or puddles and the engine sucks it in.
I drive thru touchless auto washes with engine on without issues. That's a lot of water thrown at the front.
Touchless washes isn't nearly the volume of water as many think.

It literally takes standing water up to the height of the intake (several feet) to hydro lock. Puddles won't do it lol.
Have a friend that hydrolocked his engine by driving through a large puddle at speed. The engine acts like a vacuum.

Back when I was much younger and would have considered driving through a deep puddle, cars had carburetors sitting way up on top of the engine and I figured the water would never get up that high, so all I had to worry about were the electrical components shorting out or thermal shock cracking something. There is also the whole thing with water injection into the fuel air mixture to reduce detonation. Good thing I never had an opportunity to try it.

Agreed on the clue about the crowds standing there being a hint that things are not going to go well to these idiot drivers.

The videos remind of a specific on ramp in Northern VA. It's the ramp from GW Parkway feeding the inner loop of I495. The ramp has a drop and then a rather sharp curve that's somewhat of a blind corner. Tow trucks usually set up nearby when it snows as they know business will be good.
