They should start stenciling in the VIN on every body panel in fine font to indicate original panels from factory.

Couldn't care less about the car design, (those commenting on the car have completely missed the point).
What's important is the technology on show here is incredible, the advantages & possibilities it offers are huge.
So good to see something truly 'news'worthy rather than just another boring G80/2 build spec.

This.

Super cool tech but man, how to you get your "custom" paint repaired after purchase.

Im excited for the technology. I dont think this is a good example, though.

The manufacturers already mostly do this. And if you just painted it on, it could just be sand blasted off. Most are stamped on the firewall, and various chassis components. Body panels usually have those single use metal decals. Sometimes you can find as many as 15 different places the VIN is stamped on the vehicle.

Awesome tech.

Can't wait till someone hacks into the system that controls the production line and all customers cars has a Mercedes symbol printed on the bonnet..

Very impressive. Thinking about my immediate delivery that I'm about to get in two weeks though, I'm not sure what I use this for…

Getting ready for the 50th anniversary M models—would expect special paint jobs using this new process.

Now that you mention it, wouldn't be surprised at all to see this tech being used for those editions.

This is very very cool tech! The marketing Dept blew this one because the first thing that came to mind was screaming MOPAR logo…. as if that wasn't enough, it's also close to Halloween !

Guarantee this is why some m4’s suddenly got delayed without reason. These 19 will for sure be pushed to the front of the production line. And 19 doesn’t sound like a lot but considering the parts shortages this could mean weeks or even months of delays for 19 other people now. Dumb.

That was my thought exactly. Expect a Motorsport factory style livery on the anniversary models.

Tech is very cool, and I might have been tempted to try it except for the probable lack of BMW repair center support.

I wouldn't be surprised if some CF hoods emerge at some point with that, though they won't be cheap. Until then...
