Goodbye m3

BIMMERPOST
     Featured on BIMMERPOST.com
So I ended up selling my M3 to a private dealer today. He came and picked up the car. While I was really sad to let it go, I couldn't pass up the premiums these cars are selling for.

On to the next one!

What’d you sell for? What was your MSRP and x drive?

Msrp was 84. Got it at a discount back in April.

Made about 10gs on it.

I dont blame the 2WD guys for selling. I would do that too. Make 10K and order the X drive version!

I'm wondering the same thing. If you were to buy another car of similar value, half of that will go in to taxes. If there is a mark up on the new vehicle then there goes all your profit (depending on mark up). Personally I would have parted ways for at least $20k. Even then I would have to really think about it.

OP are you replacing it with another M car?

That's huge. The 3 dealers I've talked to, including a private one that one of the forum guys here said paid him big for his have offered me 80, 80 and 81k for my 85k car. I see all of these on autotrader for $95k+ but wonder what they are actually selling for.

Going to hold tight for a while. I might put a deposit down on a Lotus Emira and just hang tight for a year and wait for a end of 2022 delivery. I wasn't going to drive the car during the winter anyways so it was just going to sit in my garage.

I figure I would pocket the 10k and put money way each month that I won't be spending on a payment and go bigger on my next car.

Time will tell.. I do have to admit that I've been eyeballing a xdrive m3. Portamino blue with Red interior

I put mine for sale on Autotrader, Cargurus and Facebook. It was Craigslist which eventually got me the sale

Interesting. How much did you list it for compared to what you ended up selling for?

So I'm guessing you sold it for about $90k (given these were going for about 5% discount back in April).

Which means this private dealer thinks he can get $94k easy.

What about the taxes? How does that work? Do you not end up eating the tax? Mine was 86 plus tax, can't see myself making 10g's if I had to eat the tax

I haven't sold a newish car in this country before so wasn't sure how this works. I'm in NY

Wonder how much I can get for my 2021 RS5 Sportback.

MSRP was $89,385 and I got it for about $86,700 or so. Had 2900 miles on it.

Has about 5300 miles now and will probably have 7000-8000 by the time my 22’ M3 xDrive comes in.

My current payoff (I just got it so no payments yet) is $91,370 but that includes the $1000 GAP on it which I would cancel (for have 90 days) so more like $90,370. I’ll probably end up making one $1600 payment on it by then and assuming payoff will be (after GAP) $89,000 or so at 7000 - 8000 miles.

I also put 5k down on it. Damn Arizona sales tax and registration will kill you. If I trade it in to the dealer I’ll only get taxed on the balance, but they might not offer as much as I could get private party so would just depend where I can get more for it to offset everything.

Smart. If you don't need a car right away it makes sense to take advantage of the premium.

So I immediately regretted selling the car and ended up putting a deposit down for a Xdrive m3. Ended up getting an allocation at MSRP. With the money I made from selling my RWD I'll be able to order the Xdrive and come out ahead. Looks like I'll be getting some extra goodies this time!

Going for either IOMG/KO or PB/FR...anyone want to help me decide?
