Wireless charging… wrong info by dealer

bought a g80 x drive , paid over sticker and was told it had wireless charging… they didn’t let me test drive or anything before purchase so I wouldn’t have really known.. come to find out chip shortage means no wireless charging in my 22.

What’re my options here? Can dealer take car back since this happened or am I screwed?

plug in a USB cable and enjoy the car. IMO wireless charging is nice but not a must. Actually on the loaner F30 my Samsung would oveheat just after 15 min of wireless charging, so it is better with a cable and not much more inconvenient.

None of the '22s have it that I'm aware. I have the wireless charging on my '21 and never, and I mean never, use it. It is beyond useless, just over heats basically straight away if you are trying to use it plus use apple CarPlay or something. If you're not using any phone features then it is barely a trickle charge. Really not worth it in any way

BMW wireless charging blows. You want to make a dealer take the car back over that or you want the dealer to take the car back cause you have buyer’s remorse over your over MSRP deal?

Is this really a question? It's wireless charging which as most said is useless. No you won't be able to take the car back. Dealerships are never ones to trust. If you are new to the car buying game, note to self for future purchases. Plug the phone in and enjoy the awesome car you just got.

Be aware that wireless charging is worse in every way except maybe convenience. Bad for your battery because of unnecessary cycles, unnecessary heat, slow to charge, etc. That's not unique to BMW, it's just the fact of wireless charging.

And relied on a salesperson from a dealership for product information. They typically don't know much.

You have no recourse. Be glad it’s only wireless charging and not something else more consequential.

Hopefully you’ve learnt what to do in the future.

More like the sales manager who would not let me drive it under any circumstance

Like others have said, wireless charging should not be a deal breaker. It is hardly worth it. The cons outweigh the pros.

Make a mental note to do your research rather than relying on sales folks. Especially on expensive items. Personally, anything I buy (except small ticket items) I do my full research plus read customer reviews before I pull the trigger. Before I placed my order on the M3 I was lurking around the forums trying to get as much feedback as I can. Heck, I was even in the F80, E90, E46 forums looking for complaints from a reliability stand point since this is my first M car and first ever BMW.

As others have said, BMW’s wireless charging is pretty much useless, all it does is heat up your phone. There should be a USB-C port in the center console, use that.

Yeah and would not let you drive it first. Did they at least let you sit in it?

The window sticker and build sheet show all of the car's options and standard equipment (no need to drive or even look at the car).

There could be recourse if it's listed on the window sticker. Your most likely outcome is a cash concession in line with the feature's cost or the installation of the feature.

It's very unlikely that this will be enough to return your car, especially after a couple of weeks of ownership.

I still can’t believe this is an actual discussion. OP doesn’t have (crappy) wireless charging and wasn’t able to test drive so now he wants out of his car?

What?

Yet they still purchased the car and now they want an M5. OP must be trolling us.

Are you like really young or do you come across sometimes as young/immature? The first indication is the question - it just suggests a general lack of life-experience. I mean who solely relies on the representations of a sales person on anything, especially something consequential like a car purchase.

And the fact that you weren’t allowed a test drive. And that you weren’t able to convince them to give you a test drive regardless. And you paid over MSRP after being treated like this.

Just wait until you open up the hood and find out there is no insulation.
