How long from here?

Car went from awaiting production queue to this overnight. Any estimate on how long to wait from here? I am east coast 40 mins from arriving port.

Assuming no stop sale (my CA is my friend and has access and no stop sale as of yet since I have basic spec), that long? I remember my M240i went from start to finish of production in a couple of days. But not sure if this is different. I'm not in a rush but want to plan accordingly

That’s what I was told. At least from the start of production

This was just posted in the week 40 thread:

My RWD M3 was dispatched from the factory and took three days by rail to get to Bremerhaven and then it sat in Bremerhaven for two weeks and then three weeks on the boat to Baltimore. Six days later it finally got to Savannah where it sat there for two weeks before an 18 wheeler brought it to me in Tampa. Perhaps this helps.

Your car hasn’t been out together so there’s no way to know if there’s a stop sale. Most of us didn’t know until we were waiting for a boat or landing in the US. Fingers crossed that you skate through without one.

And if you do skate through…do a solid to those of us afflicted with the stop sale malady…DONT make a thread celebrating your good fortune!!! 😂

Honestly the idea of taking delivery in Christmas was more exciting anyways. I have a 650 hp M240i to hold me off until then.

Seems like transport itself or awaiting transport is the real time killer vs actual production

I'm in the same boat dude. I'm in the paint booth now.

Thought, and i gotta stop thinking, that i might get the car end of this month. My salesman was so confident from day 1, "don't worry man you're on track to get your M3 in october".

Now of course i don't mind waiting a week or 2 into november, but i'm really banking on his confidence saying i'll get it in october lol.

I'm definitely going to be updating the hell out of my progress in the week 40 thread. Or here lol

Cool. My car must be next to yours in the paint booth.

What can cause a stop sale after production is done? Chip stuff post production? Just curious.

I think the actual delay is not the production of our cars. I'm sure it'll go through the whole production no problem, but it could be shipping, or waiting to be shipped, then the chip stuff, maybe a delay because of the camera issue as others pointed out etc.

So even if our cars are finished tomorrow. It might not actually leave for another couple of weeks. Then it'll sit in the states somewhere for another couple of weeks etc, then finally gets shipped to the dealer and i'm sure they do their prep process, PDI etc, then we finally get the call to come over to get it.

While it does suck waiting, i guess the saying is true, "the less you know the better" lol.

Meaning it is probably best we just stop looking at the site or this forum for updates, because that makes matters worse haha

Not having parts to complete production. Currently, part of the audio system and cameras for the parking assistance package are in short supply. Instead of shutting the entire production line until the parts come in, BMW is manufacturing the cars sans these parts. The cars then sit, usually at the destination port, but sometimes elsewhere until the parts come in.

Other auto manufacturers are doing similar things.

It's mybmw site not the app. You register and then you add the car with the VIN or production number

Most likely. This is exciting. Sucks the transport will take years

I take that back, checked again now and it's in quality check. Most likely will be ready for transport tomorrow 😳

I know. I already can tell our cars will be completed, then just sit at a certain status for like a month.

I'm just hoping for thanksgiving now. I know halloween is out of the question.

Mine is scheduled to be completed october 1st according to genius but hearing everyone's progress, and their experiences, i really think our cars will stop short somewhere while we wait.

I hope not but it's looking like it.

Stop giving me hope!!!!

Don't write it off just yet. I worked for BMW for eight years before and I've seen cars go from waiting for transport to arriving at the dealership in two weeks. Assuming good sea weather and no obstacles on the way you can potentially get it last week of October if you are on the East Coast
