That said, a quick call to the GM telling him that I wanted to let him know what I will be telling BMW NA on the phone after we got off caught his attention. Shady practices like this I'm sure don't go over very well with Corporate. I can tell you that this is the same with Porsche NA. They don't play.

Long story short, I have a production number and a week 42 build. Don't let these guys screw with you. Be professional and take it to the top. Let them know that you won't back down and will purse as far as it needs to go. Trust me, they don't want that.

Good Luck!
agree with all the above. curious if you had the deal in writing and they backtracked. that is super shady
It was in their system that records when they text me? I had the manager that confirmed the car and next steps to talk with CA. All of these are recorded in the dealer computers. Not sure how. So I had build date confirmation, acceptance of allocation with acknowledgment, price, and requested how to pay deposit. They said after I get the build and the CA would take it. I even had credit app email from CA and appointment for build of which we did on the phone. Pretty much everything. That is what saved me. I have bought many cars and I hate car dealerships and sales folks. Not all are bad, but I don't like dealing with them. And I know their tactics and surprises that they pull. Although, best experience that I have ever had was with Porsche. They listen and don't play games. Very professional.

I would agree with you on the Porsche buying experience. Ive purchased 4 911's since 2017. Telling them what I wanted to make a deal was so much easier than buying from BMW. The BMW dealers seem to think they are selling you a bugatti. Its interesting how high the BWM world (dealers and some owners) think they are. Yet at Porsche where you are spending 125K-250K+, it's much more relaxed and realistic. And the 911 community seem much more laid back and not so, elitist.

So I have had one 991s and a 971 4s. You've bought 4 since 2017? Still have or just trade frequently?

Sold my 17 F80 M3 for my first Porsche. 2017 911 S. I put 38K in 18 months! You could not get me out of it. Then I bought a 2019 911 GTS. Because I HAD to have the GTS. Had to have centerlocks. Had to have alcantera. I quickly learned the GTS was not as nice (interior wise) as my 2017 911 S. Centerlocks where 10-15K to replace with aftermarket wheels. And that alcantera was a royal PITA to keep clean as a daily driver. I only had that one a year. Sold it for a 2020 911 S. The new design. I had that 2 months and the PDK blew up. This was right as covid hit. So I could not get a new PDK. Porsche bought it back. I then bought another 2020 911 S with everything. It was 162K. It had it all. I drove off the lot and the PDK shifters didnt work. Speakers rattled. I heard a odd clicking noise too. Shifters and speakers where fixed. The clicking noise was said to be a characteristic of the car. I could not live with it. It was very annoying. I asked Porsche to take it back. They said no. But the dealer gave me a FULL refund. My down psayment and every payment I had made. So I took it and came right back to BMW where I belong.

Porsche 991.2 was great! No problems for me at all. But the new designed 2020 and up 992 version is not ready for prime time yet. At least not to me. Plus after 4 years in a 911. I am ready to be back in a sedan. So ready!!!

PS: I do have car buying issues. I seem to want a new one every year or so.

And I thought I was bad at getting rid of cars every 2 to 3 years lol. Both my 911 and Panamera were pretty rock solid. No issues at all. I was always partial to BMW so happy to be back as well. Porsche is nice, very nice, but something about the BMW.

Thanks for sharing!

I wish I had those problems. I had to wait until my daughter graduated high school and paid my Seven series off, wait for almost a year after I sold it to get finally get my first new BMW and M car. Don't get me wrong, I have owned over thirteen BMW'S and five of them were 7's. When I get this car, I will keep it for at least five years and enjoy it tremendously.

Awesome! But are you sure you're week 44? Seems like there's nobody beyond week 41 or 42 who has had their status change yet besides you. Of course I would be happy if you are since that means the rest of us will probably be following suit shortly

I called bmw today and was told I might drop down from week 44 back to my original week 40. Who knows if that will happen. But maybe this is a good a sign for all. Beats me.

Any of you guys get any updates on your builds? Anyone scheduled for week 44 still at status 111?

I’m back at 112 supposedly after I was told “your car has never left 112 status” which I know is false. So I have 100% given up.

I was told by Genius a week ago that I was at W45. I was bumped back to 111 two weeks ago.
Today, after calling my CA to add a couple of options to my build, he told me I was at 112 and build week 41! Checked My Garage and see I am at 112 again (3rd time!)
Don’t know what to believe…

I feel for you. That would drive me nuts. At least you're seeing movement though. I have been hard parked at status 111 for months now. I just wanna see status 112. Hopefully none of us move up to week 45.

I started at 111 then moved to 112 then back to 111 now back to 112 however after my last call they told me “you’ve never gone backwards to 111” which I know is false. Very very frustrating.

What’s even more annoying is the tracker still shows 111 but genius says 112 so I actually have no idea what to believe.

I stopped calling the Geniuses. It’s nice to talk to someone about this now and then but honestly they are no help. I find this forum to be more informative.

This forum definitely helps with the big picture that the genius can’t answer. However I’m fairly confident that most people here don’t have an understanding of what build week they really are in and that throws everything off.

Agree 110%. For example I’m being told “on track for a week 44 build” but it may wind up a week 45 or 47 or 52! Until the car is built and you have a VIN there’s just no way to know at this point.

In another thread I’m attempting to compile some data to try and at least sort of figure out which parts (if any) are the specific reason for these delays.
