I don't see anybody mentioning one of the greatest points of the bucket seats: the drive feel. The car communicates to your body completely differently, and it really changes the driving experience.

If you look at my old posts, I was dead set on getting the regular seats because they're more practical and it'll be a daily driver for me. But after being able to drive an M4 with the bucket seats, I realized I would be missing part of the experience by going with the standard seats. Yes, the seats are a little trickier to get out of, and I'm worried about wear on that thigh bolster, but when it came time for me to place my order, I threw practicality out the window because these seats make the M3/M4 a much more awesome vehicle to drive from a purist standpoint.

I get that these seats aren't for everyone, so I don't blame anyone getting the standard seats. But I'm buying my M4 because I'm looking for the most fun driving experience, and that's why I went with the carbon buckets and 6-speed.

Seems like it would have almost been cheaper and faster to pay 10k or whatever to swap out the seats.

I sold my 2021 for $91k which is what I paid for it. I ordered the 2022 M4 Competition Coupe xDrive with the same colors and options, other than the M Carbon sport seats and the new car was $89k. So I will have a one year newer car with xDrive and more comfortable seats for $2k less money. Looks like a win win for me. Before selling I removed the spacers and the PSI midpipe so that I can use it on the new one.

Can't do that in states with giant sales tax...

One thing that worries me when selling such an expensive thing is securely collecting the payment. I wouldn't want to get scammed out of $91K. What do you do? Go to the bank with the buyer?

Just look at them and answer your question self...

If you're in your 20's and park your car hard and cars & coffee...man, these seats are super comfy!

For anyone else using as daily driver, no thank you!

However such a eye candy!

Did u take a hit from selling that soon? Or the skyrocket used car prices turn a profit?

I sold my F82 to a guy several states away without him ever seeing it in person. The biggest thing is buying the buyer/seller just like on ebay. We talked on the phone bunch of times. I had it inspected at a local place of his choosing that he paid for. We did a 3 way call with my credit union and he wired the payment to them. I knew I was honest and he was getting a good car and wanted him to be comfortable with everything so I jumped through whatever hoops he wanted to be comfortable. Got service records from my dealer. He arranged for truck shipping. Worked out great in the end.

Can't much worse than sourcing an allocation for a car and then waiting for them to source the chips to build it and then waiting for it to ship to the US.

Ultimately, my girlfriend's butt overruled the carbon buckets. And I'd much rather have her big butt in the next seat to me, as opposed to having those carbon buckets and my passenger seat empty. No way was she going to be able to navigate getting in and out of those buckets on a regular basis. And really, between the two of us, we were going to rub those high thigh bolsters into oblivion within a year or two (especially with the Silverstone interior).

Love how those carbon buckets look, but for us, simply not practical with how often we both jump in and out of the car for various reasons. And we definitely take a lot of long trips so...

Nevertheless, we both really like the standard buckets. And I just had my 80-year old great aunt in my car last week for a fairly long trip (75 miles), and she was supremely comfortable once we made some adjustments to the many settings. NO WAY would she have been able to navigate those carbon buckets. So, for me, it has all worked out.

What you're telling us is your girlfriend is thicc they seats aren't for everyone so I completely get you there.

as far as wear on the bolsters go, that really comes down to how well you take care of your car and get in/out of the seats. I never sit on the side bolster or slide over it so mine stays pristine.

I'd like to see how you get over the side bolsters without dragging your butt across them while getting in and out. I haven't figured it out yet. I pull on the steering wheel and sometimes feel like I'm gonna break it lol. I like the seats and don't find them uncomfortable, but anyone that says they're not difficult getting in and out is a spider

I've only sat in them a few times as my car hasn't arrived yet (next week). What's your size (height/weight)? I'm not a big guy by any means 5'8, 155lbs but everyone is different if course. I sat in an M8 with the ivory inteiror / CF Buckets. I didn't want to get it dirty so I was careful egressing

Lol. I'm pretty spry and I still feel that I rub the side bolster on the way out. I try not to but it's almost impossible to not at least touch it slightly. Will try to keep it clean and conditioned so it doesn't wear over time.

I have been using the steering wheel to support and push myself out , and it works pretty well. Initially I tried the handle but that became too uncomfortable. Once you find a comfortable way it becomes habit.

I'm 5'11'' 240 athletic build. I can see how a smaller/lighter person would have an easier time, but for me it's more the gap between the side bolster and the top of the doorway. I also set my memory 2 button to slide the seat down and back, but that just helped me squeeze in between the seat and steering wheel better.

I completely understand that's you're probably pushing it in terms of size for the buckets because you know Germans, they make things for how they are not Americans I have a friend who is about your size and he was not a fan of the seats.
