San Diego dealers with no markup

Hello everyone, I’m looking to place an order but the 3 dealers I’ve been to so far are telling they hav markups. They range from 5K-15K, anyone have any insight where I can find a dealer that is not marking up their cars. Thanks

Closest you'll find to San Diego is BMW of Murrieta, that doesn't charge above MSRP. Sonic auto dealers are not charging above MSRP as well which includes Monrovia, Long Beach and Beverly Hills.

Good luck, as these are close to impossible to find at MSRP, and available.

Thanks for the info, I know I have to order it because how I want the car optioned and I know that will take time but I'm not willing to pay markup.

I got a quote from Long Beach and was told 10-15k over. BMW of Murietta is close to you, talk to Dave Townsend over there he's great. I was going to order through him but received an allocation elsewhere first.

False. BMW Long Beach is charging 15k-20k over.

I got mine from Valencia BMW. They didn't charge a markup when I ordered and it seemed like they had more availability's on hand.

MocoLoco, mind if I ask when you placed your order with Valencia? I submitted an order through them just today actually, and was wondering how long it usually takes to receive the allocation.

They had the allocation readily available. So as soon as gave my confirmation on the order they pushed it into production. My order took like two weeks to actually start production. But that was a BMW manufacturing thing. It didn't have to do with the allocation.

When I talked to my rep I told him that I wanted a 6mt. I remember him saying that he had an allocation for the 6mt. It seems to me that there are allocations given for 6mt and for the Comp. I'm not sure how correct this is.

Do you have an allocation already?

I have no idea if I do or not. My sales advisor told me that it is "waiting in line to be picked up" and it would probably take a few weeks. I am in status 047, meaning basically I just put a build together but it does not have a production date or number.

When did you order yours if I may ask?

I ordered mine on 7/12. It went into scheduled for production like 8/1. It actually went into production this past Saturday, and it just finished yesterday. It's on its way to port right now.

Did they send your build out sheet to confirm your order? Check if there's a production number on it. Should be on the top left. If you have a production number you should be able to sign up with mybmw to track the build out.

Thanks for the info. They did send me my build sheet but there's no production number yet because it has not been allocated. They told me I am 3rd in line, and they receive 2 to 4 at the beginning of each month, so it'll be September or October for me to get started!

Sorry about cluttering up the thread w/ our conversation, OP. But I would definitely shop around at least in southern California in general, not just SD, to get MSRP without markup. I was told by Bob Smith BMW in Calabasas that they'd charge an extra $5000, so I told them have a nice day and moved on.

Is anyone actually paying these markups? Plenty of dealers seem to be demanding extra, but the general consensus here seems to be that everyone is telling them to fuck off and buying from somewhere else.

+1 for Dave Townsend. He is a big contributor on Leasehackr forum.

My car is awaiting Carrier Assignment, and my dealer is going to be stuck with $103K paperweight, pre-approved financing, if they pull anything funny.

I was told MSRP, and I was allowed to order without deposit, so... Ill walk away from that shit in a second. I'll find another allocation. Im still waiting on a hookup for a 911 992 allocation, anyway. If that comes through, I'll scrap the M4 idea, if they ask for more than MSRP.

Hey KiloCo,

Yes, BMW SD, Escondido and Vista all have markups, Enscondido being the highest at 15K. I haven’t been to Encinitas yet. I thought I just ask here which dealer is not marking up their M3’s.

Another recommendation for Dave Townsend at Murrieta. Just purchased my G80 from him. I also had a great experience at Steve Thomas BMW for my previous M340

Vista and Encinitas are the same dealership. They are waiting for the new site to be built in Carlsbad before they merge them, but it is the same GM, Finance Manager, etc.
