Build week is when your car is completed as I understand…..at status 155 QC since 10/6…I guess it’s still a week 40? Or am I a different week because it’s not out of factory yet?

Mine has been in QC since 10/7 which was my supposed completion date. My SA told me he saw no stop sales when he looked up my order status today. He said he did see a stop sale on an M3 they have ordered and a 430 grand coupe. I’m still skeptical and wondering why I’m still in QC.

It's ok guys BMW is just triple checking our cars. Smaller panel gaps means less air resistance which means better 0-60 times, we're gonna smoke these other guys at stop lights |

Day 4 still in transit.. did not think it would take this long to reach the port. I know someone with a M3 dispatched from factory on 10/6 and reached port 10/8 - so in 2 days.
Genius is not able to tell me whether it's in transit to port, or whether it's actually already at sea (wishful thinking but you never know!).

System updates are often “lumpy” (no/slow updates, then a jump of a few steps at once).
My car sat in “production started” for 11 days (typical), “body assembly” begins and “in the paint booth” for two days each, and “on the assembly line” from Friday the 1st to early Monday the 4th. That day it skipped QC altogether, briefly showed “released from the factory” for a few hours, skipped “in transit”, and showed at the port by that evening (where it remains to this day). Actual production date was Friday the 1st, so obviously the system updates skipped a few beats. So .. nothing to worry about, at least unless you’re stuck at a step for over a week that normally takes a day. |

Ok we have movement!! After 8 days in QC, I'm now awaiting carrier assignment. Thank goodness. No stop sales or recalls showing up.
So here is my theory based on nothing but speculation. The geniuses I spoken kept on using the phrase "released to sales." It seems that once the car finishes quality check and final assembly, it moves from the manufacturing arm of BMW to the sales arm. My theory is that recalls and stop sales are put on the car when it reaches sales. So there is a chance that the cars that spent between five and eight days in quality check were there because they were affected by some of the identified issues and they wanted to avoid stop sales and recalls that would have clogged up the ports or the VPCs. Better to fix them at the factory than to stress the system further down. Again this is just conjecture, but it seems to make sense after piecing together various conversations with the geniuses.

I am fairly confident it's already at the port but just that the systems have not updated.

So when I checked the recall site the other day there were no open items. Now it's showing the RAM as needing to be installed. Looks like we are all pretty much in the same situation.

Crap! That sucks, my build was around the same time as yours so I expect to be hit with this too... although as of now the recall checker still shows no open issues...

Ok well retrofitting the RAM for me.. so much for my SA saying he sees no recalls… starting to wonder if I’ll see this thing before the end of the year.
