BMW Genius said it week 41 will be the last week of September. By the calendar it looks to me like around October 10th.

When i initially started this thread, i had ordered two cars. One for my brother, and x5 for my mother. Brothers car was/is frozen black. Dealer ended up screwing us up on X5. So now i'm going to bail on this car (but i wont tell him) and order another car somewhere else.

I understand you're upset with that dealer, and rightfully so - I'd take my business elsewhere too. But don't screw a fellow M-fan. You should tell them so someone else has the opportunity to take your allocation.

Seems odd. The car isn't even for you and you're going to now try and find another one? Let your bro have the car and avoid the dealer going forward.

Loyalty is very important to me. This dealer is 2 minutes from my house, and between my father, brother and I, we've had about 5 bmw's in the last 3 years. Guess how many have been purchased from that dealer?

Zero. Everytime we try to get a car there it's a joke, no discounts, nothing. I was referred to a "top tier" guy there after my brother sold his m4 a few weeks ago. With hesitancy, i obliged, and i went it with little brother, ordered x5, and m3. I had prodution #'s before i left. I was happy.

Fast forward, X5 arrives to dealer... (Shockingly fast) I get no update from salesman, i call him and he says "i had no idea it arrived"
OK, fine, car is here, let's negotiate...

we then start negotiating numbers, and he then says he can't discount the vehicle at all (which 3 weeks go he said he would) I'm now furious. He says "dont worry i'll order you another 1, and ill discount that one" I told him i'll call him back.

So in summary, i really dont care anymore. I ordered another one elesewhere (as usual) and that dealer says i will get first m3 allocation. I'm going to revel in the fact that we ordered an almost base car with the exception of special color and CCB. He can have fun trying to sell it. On second thought, it'll probably move in a week after it arrives.

I dont have a BMW anymore, but i do all the deals for my family, and this was absolutely the last straw. Never stepping foot in there again, i should've trusted my gut, as always.

Called today and found out I got bumped to week 41 - I think mostly due to the individual paint option. Hopefully it doesn't get pushed any further out.

So, production allocated on week 40, delivery at the dealer expected for week 43. (Italy)

Umm i'm new to this as well but i think you might be mistaken.

Your build week is the week your car will START to get built. Then about 6 weeks from the start time to you actually driving the car home. There's lots of events that need to take place, even after the car is already assembled.

Btw, i'm week 40 and trust me, everyday the wait is killing me.

But week 40 is a 1st week october build. Should be done end of october/early november. Should get to the dealer and ready for pickup around thanksgiving.

That's my assumption at least.

Unlikely. If you were set for 40, and bumped for 41, it wont be for paint. It's just the way shit has been going lately...... Everyone's orders are out of whack.

On the plus side, my mothers x5 was ordered on the 14th, and arrived at the dealer yesterday... So at least bmw has the X models down.. LOL

Hey there. I think a lot of us have had confirmation from the Genius line that the build week is actually the estimated completion. I've heard this from both the dealer and the phone reps. It also reconciles with the fact that many of the week 37 cars are in production right now.

As per the email genius sent me.....

"Your 2022 BMW M3 competition sedan is estimated to (BEGIN) production the week of October 4, 2021 (week 40). Please note, all dates are estimates and subject to change.

I know the actual production from start to finish is about 2 weeks? But after that there's QC, going through customs, and all the other formalities which could pile on another 3-4 weeks, possibly more.

I'm already expecting to have my car sometime in november, late nov.

I don't wanna think that way and i wish i can drive it tomorrow. But that's how it is.

So one of us is receiving incorrect information. However I've seen it so many times, but I'm inclined to think that what I've been told is correct. In fact I just called the genius line to confirm, and they told me that the schedule week is the completion week for production.

Actually i wanna believe you lol. Because that's better news for me. I'm dying to get this car already. I wanna have fun with it, finish the break in, all before the first snowfall. So trust me man, i really hope genius made a mistake with my email vs what they told you and others.

I really would like the car before november if that's possible. Do you think it's possible if my car is finished first week of october?

You just gave me a jump start to my excitement again!!!

So the short answer is… Maybe. When I talked to the genius, they had indicated that week 40 production meant that the car was likely to be completed by October 2. Of course that is if it remains in week 40. If you read some of the other weekly production threads, the schedules tend to move around presumably due to parts shortages for certain options. But he did say that shipping and transfer was likely to take 5 weeks which would get it to me early November.
