good places to drive

Im in queens ny, looking for good places to go and just drive. My usual spot(more like my only) is bear mountain but it feels too short and its just way to populated.

I need recommendations, thanks!

Back in the day, I would do longer drives on the Taconic, Route 9, Ocean Parkway/Jones Beach, Montauk Highway all the way to the lighthouse, and the usual Palisades Parkway/202/6/Bear Mountain area. I'm sure traffic is worse, so I'm guessing these are no longer good drives unless you go super-early on a weekend morning or after midnight.

Nice one, might see you guys there! I haven't been able to stretch the legs of the car on any twisty roads since getting it. I'm in Brooklyn

Heading to the Jersey shore this weekend, traffic will probably be brutal but will definitely check out Hawks Nest / Bear Mountain on the way home if the wife will humour me

We should definitely plan a hawks nest / bear mountain drive with all the G8x around here!

Nice route if you're on the way to Monticello to actually drive your car as well...

Just please be responsible in that area, there are a lot of cyclists out along with some tight/blind corners. I did a spirited drive with others a couple of years ago and while the lead driver knew the area well, the pace was consistently too fast. If you're going to drive like that, spend a few bucks and go to an HPDE.

Monticello is pretty amazing, but it's a private club and fairly expensive. A lot of fun could be had at Limerock, NYST, NJMP, etc., most weekends. Just see what's happening on motorsportreg, you could even rent helmets at some of the venues and get a ton of track time with a lot of time to socialize for around $300. Most events split attendees into groups, so it really shouldn't be intimidating for beginners.

Add Pocono East, Pocono South and Watkins Glen to that list. Just have to find the right HPDE clubs.

I haven't been to Watkins Glen myself, Pocono could definitely be fun depending on the course.

I'm not a fan of any of their course setups that include the banked track, the on/off could be a bit rough, and the turn-in a bit ambiguous. Last time I was there we ran the North course and two instructors were fighting over which line everyone should be taking turning into the banked track, and a Spec Miata managed to spin out in front of me at that same turn. East 4 or Southeast 1 are the courses I would look for if going again.

Pocono east is a lot of fun, tight infield. Pocono South you get a lot of speed.

Watkins glen, you gonna need some serious brakes.

For a beginner Pocono East is good.

I like how you play with black and white on this car. Your wheels look so stylish, cool shots that you have here.
