True with the situation, in Miami the Parking was required Valet ( no self par)and the garage was 2 blocks away. The valet dudes would get in the car that was getting parked and come back with the cars that were leaving. There were only 7 spots in front of the hotel and to be honest they wouldn't even offer for a G80, it was usually Lambos, Phantoms, Ferraris. The door guy would leave there with His pockets loaded. He drove a Turbo S. I am a small business owner that does well, but that job as a concierge was crazy the amount of money we made. The hotel is a $700 a night hotel for a garage view room all the way up to $7,500 a night.

If you mean you saw a condo in Vail for that kind of money, that's not bad at all. I lived in Denver and looked to make a move there in 2015. Moved to Houston insted for work, now in Houston you get a lot for $375,000 ( I have moved to Maine since )

That's a unique situation. In the NYC area, Delray Beach, FL area (where I own homes) it is $10 to park the car yourself. I don't ask, I just pull up to the valet and say "you mind if I park the car myself?"
I'm only 2 miles north of Atlantic, in Boynton.

So the valet idiots who scratched my car want to fix it at their approved body shop. Not a fucking chance!

Any suggestions on how I can play hardball. Could I call my insurers and have them go after their insurers or any other ideas on how to make them play ball?

I was thinking of ordering a truck load of gravel and dumping it outside the entrance to their garage but that might be a bit extreme so looking for alternate suggestions

Edit: some good news…just orderd those lower corner pieces from BMW. Not sure if it's a mistake but they're only $85 each!! Amazing! That's good to know because these pieces are probably going to take a beating so it's nice that they're easily replaced and don't need paint etc

I'm in Delray. Checked out Hawkers downtown on Saturday night. Was great.

Btw...didn't valet. Found a spot after a few minutes, but saw a Huracan valeting right in front of me.

I do whatever I can to avoid valet.

I valeted my car on atlantic ave in 2012 (before I had a conceal carry permit) and left a glock in the car unloaded and un-cocked. When I came back the firearm had been cocked. I never valeted my car on atlantic ave again.

I don't leave my carry in my car anymore. I used to always leave it, but there's too many things that can go wrong.

If I had a huracan I would never valet it. But for some people it really is "just a car."

What's crazy is when I'm in New York (the vast majority of my time) I feel naked without it. Not to hijack the thread and go all 2A but it is semi relevant given it relates to the decision to valet or not lol.

Broke up with a girl over this in my E92 days.

Hard pass. I'd never let it happen.

I would not go anywhere. I could not park my own car. I was a valet as a kid. We beat the piss out of the car while you were eating. Many of them had no idea how to drive a stick.

It's a long story, but she always had Gallas and fancy dinners to attend. They all required valet parking at the venue, and she didn't drive, so we had to take my car.

Of course, she didn't tell me the valet was required the first one we went to, and when I refused to let the 18 year old drive it (with a line of traffic building up behind), an argument ensued. "What's the big deal?"

We had what they call…fundamental differences.

I would try hard as hell not to valet. I drove my f82 on a short distance work trip and stayed at a hotel that valet your car and when I went to check out the guy was backing out and hit a pillar causing a small dent. The management at the hotel sucked at communication and took forever to get paid from their insurance to fix the rear.

My girlfriend would rather skip dinner than make me uncomfortable about who's driving my car...she's a keeper.

Yes I found someone who would never put me in that position now

Curious for some input here.

My wife and I enjoy gambling and every 2-3 months we spend a long weekend in Atlantic City. I have always valeted my cars (Audi sport cars, X3m, etc.), but none were manual and none were as special (to me maybe) as my g80. This is our first trip down since I got my g80 and unsure what to do. Do you guys think it's risky at a nice casino in AC to valet? What would you do?

Pay extra to be parked upfront, or pay the fee and ask to park your car yourself, or park in a another garage after dropping off your wife.

As others here, i did valet in college and grew up driving manuals. And even if we were not trying to joyride or do other dumb shit, sometimes it gets busy and running around to pick up cars as fast as possible will also lead to incidents…..

Sometimes valet is unavoidable so yeah paying extra for up front is the way. Sometimes it takes $20 or $50 or $100 etc but it's worth it. If there's Lambos and shit up from you can expect your bmw to be treated like ass out back.

It's just a car at the end of the day but if you want someone to treat it like you treat it then you gotta pay to play.

No valet has parked any of my cars in exactly twenty years. I know the date very specifically because that's when the valet stole (or more likely, gave to a friend) my E46 during my engagement party. It was eventually recovered, but there was no recourse other than having my insurance repair most of the damage.
