It seemed like they were low numbers, but maybe others are seeing/hearing something different.

I've heard on here that it's monthly, but a dealer near me said they release quarterly. Maybe it depends on the dealer?

Allocations are based on the capabilities of the factory so they all go out at once (usually on a monthly basis).

Some dealers get them, some don't.

It's strange though ray catena in Westchester who claims to be a top ten dealer and bmw bayside are where I'm on the list. I placed my orders at both within a week or two of another and both have moved up once two spots since august and at completely different times.

Well, moved up a spot on one wait-list least.

Silver lining in all this is that at least I likely won't be taking delivery in the dead of winter and have to throw on winter wheels/tires right away.

Normally, allocations get released around the end of the month, but in September these got pushed to early October. Maybe one dealer got an allocation in early October, and the other in late October?

I suppose there could be other factors too.

Someone ahead of you canceled an order
Dealer traded for an allocation
They simply didn't relay the current status promptly
