BMW CF Exterior X Aftermarket Option - Worth it?

Hello.

I know there are a lot of information about the CF exterior, but I would like discuss it with a little more details:

First, what comes with the BMW CF Exterior:
Front Air splitters
Side Mirrors
Read spoiler
rear diffuser.

Specially the front looks aggressive with this option. Cost: $4700.

Now, when we look the aftermarket. There are plenty of options.

https://r44performance.com/products/...ct-replacement.

Ok, looking the parts they look similar bring the total down for something like $3200 delivered to USA.

Now the biggest question, how difficult is to install these parts?
It's just plug and play? It's necessary professional service?

Thanks

What does the M Carbon Exterior package actually include? https://www.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh....php?t=1765167

I had the CF pack on my '21 BG RWD..it looks pretty sweet and really added to the car.

I ordered a IOMG AWD and decided I wouldn't get it this time around. While it looks good I personally thing the gloss black looks better with he IOMG and I send the extra savings on the CF seats this time around.

If you were to buy all the parts aftermarket, I think they are pretty easy install, except for the front ducts, which require you to take off the front bumper.

I ordered a M4 AWD IOMG, that's my dilemma .

Front ducts are the reason why I want this

Agree with above. If you don't want the front ducts, and/or aren't picky about weave patterns, you can come out well under in pricing and DIY.

There are good after market options now, R44 along with several other knockoffs from China - listed in the "Exterior/Cosmetic" subsection of the forum.

Most parts are straightforward to swap out. The most difficult ones to replace after the fact will be the front ducts as that will require removal of the front bumper. Definitely still a DIY job but just be prepared to set aside a few hours to do it.

Also if you might be getting the $7k m performance trapezoid exhaust kit that comes with a cf diffuser, definitely dont get the carbon exterior package.

Totally worth it IMO. All perfect from the factory; all matching weave; and all residualized in my lease.

I was looking how to install the front ducts and they are really complicated.

I believe the service for this job will be something like $400.

What about the front splitter? Any good aftermarket options on that? I decided to by pass the front splitter as an add on right now. I do plan to get it aftermarket however down the road when I feel like I need a refresh. I did splurge on the ext carbon fiber pack and humming and hahing.

Few options on EBAY for $450~500 range.
R44 website for $1200.

No clue about how much to install them.

This is a 6 figure car and we're worried about saving a grand on some cheap Chinese aftermarket CF parts with subpar weaves.

Mine was 96.2 so not quite, after taxes yes. You have to draw the line somewhere. I told myself I'm not going to get into M5 territory. So that's why it's my guideline. How you spend your money is your logic. How I spend mine is my own.

Fair enough but there are better ways to keep the cars price in check like not getting the awful carbon seats or maybe not springing for individual paint. Saving a grand on the CF exterior when you have to go through the trouble of getting the new pieces fitted, taking a gamble on fitment and getting peices that are lower quality just dosent make alot of sense.

I didn't get the carbon fiber seats. I chose the individual paint because that's how I fell in love with the car. I tried to talk myself out it and kept on bouncing between 3-4 standard colors. I ultimately thought the paint was more important than the front splitter.

My logic was there's always been good after market front splitters. I was going to cheap out on the ext carbon fiber pack too but getting a frozen paint, I don't want anyone to be removing any bumpers and potentially scratching it to put in the front inserts.

And truthfully it's not something I need right away. I think the car looks fantastic without it, when I get a little bored down the road. It'll help it give a little refresh look.
