Not sure how long you've been in Finance; However, SkyLink, KAHU, and LoJack all offer a similar program and are sold at 90% of dealers. The $5,000 is towards a purchase of a new vehicle if your stolen car has not been recovered in 30 days.
Only been in finance for a little over a year but just saying that I've never heard about it because we don't offer anything similar lol.

In some states if gap is clearly not needed, it is not legal to sell them gap.
In Texas there's all kinds of shady stuff I've seen so we aren't one of them

It's a Lexus/Subaru dealer on Maui. Yeah I used to be a scumbag used car salesman but that doesn't do good here on an island so.. haha.

Fair enough. I don't like car sales people after getting to know how things work at one point in my life. There are some good ones though

Well tried to cancel it but dealer was honest that they forced it on me because they gave me a discount and wanted to recoup some of it lol. In the end, it is like i got a bit less discount with some potential (albeit unlikely) benefit. Not gonna fret it.
Thanks all for chiming in.

They admitted trying to swindle you because you got a good deal? That's pretty shitty business practice, even if not unusual. If you have the luxury of taking your business to another dealer in the future (for sales and/or service), I'd let them know about this.

I have a good relationship with the dealership and they gave me a good discount that I believe no one else is getting on these cars, so not holding it against them this time. There is always something I can leverage for next time.
