Extreme Exhaust Sound on G80 M3: Single Midpipe + Catless DPs

BIMMERPOST
     Featured on BIMMERPOST.com
Finally, an extended listen to G80_Soom's exceptionally loud G80 (127dB!).

Seems to be the only setup that meaningfully changes the way this car sounds (versus making the existing sound louder). Sounds like a lot of fun, and I believe this setup will go a long way towards raising the baseline thrill level of the G8x driving experience.

Remarkably ideal stretch of road you found. Sounds great! Would love to see another video in that same area but without the DP mod.

Sounds absolutely savage. Almost an F1 car sound off it

I wasn't planning on Down Pipes, was going to just do the VT mid pipe but this has me interested.

I wonder where this 'closed course' is, looks like a lot of fun!

Not affiliated with these guys. I agree, though - I'm going to be looking around local industrial areas for something similar.

Here's a good video of the car with just the single midpipe. BTW, ZF8 upshifts sound pretty good here.

I'd love to hear catless DP + Valvetronic single midpipe + an aggressive aftermarket exhaust.

I want it to sound like that, but at about half that volume. Waaay too loud for me. Id never open the valves. Lets see some flames.

I'd wager it's not too bad in person, who knows what the actual sound is like with the microphones. I have the mid pipe and it's not bad at all, pretty tame unless you really open it up.

The rear suitcase seems to do a very good job

Fuck.

I have always loved NA engines and 99% of the time, I prefer them to FI engines. I had a 991 GT3 that was straight piped and nothing will ever sound as good (except maybe for an Italian V12 that's straight piped), but there is nothing on the market that can lug around my newborn baby in comfort that sounds as nice as this G80 does with its luxurious interior.

I ordered a G80 then canceled it soon after earlier this year; I just didn't feel too excited by it.

Welp, that's changed. Guess I'll order one again lol.

Thanks for the video!

Great video, and thanks for blazing the trail!

There are videos of cat-back systems that appear to unleash some serious overrun pops and bangs, even on the stock non-piggyback tune (R44_Rhys). Do you have any plans to change the exhaust itself?

The G80 exhaust is already equal length for the record but it sounds good

This setup is fully straight piped, right? I can't tell if there's a muffler or not in the video, and the sound is insanely loud so I'm guessing it's a muffler delete as well as the catless DP and single midpipe. Sounds almost like an S85!

I'm conflicted. Some clips sound really nice, others sound like a Nissan VQ/VR (not a fan of the sound of those Nissan V6's personally)

I hate most exhausts on an F80/G80 but I do like this one. Still probably least favorite part of the car but definitely an improvement!

Valvetronic is currently in the works building a compatible rear section for this midpipe that works with OEM valves!

Reminds me of a G37/370Z with the trumpet exhausts. I can see this being great for a track build but I can't imagine dailying with this.
