Anyone with the standard black interior trim?

Hey, can someone please post some shots of the high gloss black interior trim? Not the piano black one… I can’t figure out what is the difference between these as I want the black trim but I can’t figure out why would I pay more for piano black 🤔

I'm pretty sure that the standard trim is aluminum tetragon. You can upgrade to carbon, piano black, aluminum, or fineline wood.

Gloss black is plasic. Piano Black is wood based.

I have seen people report scratching Piano Black and being able to polish it out. There is also people saying that Gloss Black has a glitter/sparkle to it and is a dull black compared to Piano Black.

Personally I am building a G82 M4 all black build so I will be going with Piano Black.

Hell...can anyone tell if any of these are gloss black vs piano black?

Thanks for posting photos!!! I can see no difference, lol, going with standard plastic gloss black trim… plastic is also lighter than wood!

Glossy black plastic should be banned from car interiors. It looks like garbage in no time.

They should ban it from the exterior as well. It ages even worse on the outside.

I wanna touch on something real quick. This includes areas where BMW screwed up in my opinion.

I've spent hundreds of hours working on my build and always recommend using precision and analysis of every detail before making a choice. For example...carbon fiber.

The following areas of the G80/G82 have black high gloss plastic standard:

- To the left of the Digital Cluster (All Models) (Missing in Official BMW Renders)
- The iDrive display housing is gloss black. (All Models)
- The center console controls is black (Competition only)

Unless you buy the carbon seats, the carbon fiber just looks out of place mostly because of its intense plastic looking gloss and its incompatibility with the chrome trim.

The only thing that looks good in my opinion in the carbon fiber interior trim is the the steering wheel. Why? Because its complemented by the red M buttons and has had all chrome removed.

just want to say that I am super jealous of the metal-look window switches and other buttons on the door panels (card) of UK spec (and probably other euro spec) G8x models.

I have no idea why BMW decided to have the cheap matte black plastic buttons for the US. Just seems like such a low-cost part either way that it'll cost more to produce 2 different types..

For an $80k+ car, we shouldn't have matte plastic buttons..

We get the "galvanic controls" in Canada, its really weird that the US doesn't.

Idk, the galvanized look just looks and feels much more premium. Toyotas have matte black plastic switches.
