Exactly, no wheel locks unfortunately. I have to look into that, never had it before to be honest. I have heard that these bastards are equipped with basically the same tools as authorised dealers 🤷🏻‍♂️

Wheel locks won’t affect them or slow them down.

I think it's a pretty good deterrent. I also have some non-OEM wheel locks on mine, probably even rarer for thieves to carry around those kinds.

To a small time thief, it’ll slow them down (not prevent them) for a pro, it won’t even slow them down. Go to YouTube and search “wheel lock removal without key”.

Slowing down small time thieves basically prevent it. They're not going to bother most of the time.

For a pro...looks like the'll either need an angle grinder, welding tools, or a huge supply of universal sockets that can break easily...

I'll take my chances with the wheel locks lol.

Alarm didn't go off? How did they take the left side wheels/tires, doesn't look like much room to work with on that side.

Nope, alarm didn’t go off.

Exactly, there’s about 30 cm to the wall in the front and 35-40 cm in the back. I always park very close to the wall (to avoid this kind of thing). Apparently this was enough to get the wheels off without a scratch on the car. As I said, this was a clean operation 🥹

At least the part to be thankful for in a bad situation is lack of damage. Out in California, they couldn't care less about leaving cars on the ground.

Winter wheels are on (which wasn’t easy), now off to inspection at BMW.

Small photo dump from wash day. Eclipse really had the paint popping.

For real though, I absolutely love this car and color more everyday. It’s so dynamic. Looks dark grey, sometimes black, gold-ish, green-ish. Just always some new shade. Very happy I stuck with my gut when I ordered this car.

Me too.... I don't regret my color choice at all. If I were to get another one, I would pick this color again.

I feel the exact same way!!! Everyone compliments me on the color. I love how it has multiple personalities. 😂

PPF/tints done. Installed a new shifter/boot and a Dahler valve controller and had a Dinan X-pipe put in. Not too much more I’d want to do aside from installing my HAS springs, CSL grill, and GTS tail lights… perhaps would add an intake kit later on.

Just had these TD-06 wheels custom fit from BC Forged for winter tires and OEM center caps. Can’t wait to see what they look like…
Nice! What are your wheel specs?

I’m so sorry that happened. I’ve been there too. Thieves broke the back window of my F80, stuck it in neutral, and used a truck to ram it out of it’s parallel parking spot. They went for a joy ride (or something unexpected happened) and the cops found it on cement blocks on the highway. Had to go recover it at a towing impound and it was clear the car (including Akrapovic exhaust tips) had been scraped from the transport.

Anyway… I’m sure words aren’t enough to describe the violated feeling you went through. Though like you, it still could have been worse. Thankful we both still got our cars back and I guess that’s why we have insurance.

Insurance is great - 100 % coverage (small excess) so that’s not going to be a problem. It’s more about all the work with taking it to the dealership etc.
This too. Ultimately, you don’t get the time lost back, or anything to compensate for the stress of dealing with the whole mess. I hope it goes smoothly/fast as possible. Big picture helped keep things in perspective for me lol.

Exactly. I somehow lost the key for my E90s wheel locks. Never having done it before, it took me about 3 minutes per wheel to get them off with a 22mm socket and a small sledgehammer. If I was experienced and prepared with appropriate tools (rather than improvising on a whim), I could have done it way quicker (and quieter) than I did.

Beautiful, just beautiful. Great shots! Dravit is the paint color that just keeps on giving 😂

The wheel locks you get today are much different than the ones you had back then. They're not adaptable with sockets and require specialized inserts. I'd be interested to see if you had the same experience today.

The videos I've seen are people needing welding or power tools, not really that efficient for small-time operations.

Thanks! I opted to go for a square setup with 275R19 Bridgestone Blizzaks all the way around. So the hub offsets were set to get the rims flush with the fenders without any spacers. This does make it a little less convenient in that I can’t just swap front to rear tires since the wheels are still staggered, but I figure if my winter tires have any significant wear on them, I’m likely replacing all 4 of them anyway.

I have the star pattern lug bolts on my car and although they can still get them off, I hope it may slow them down.
