Changed the oil before this weekend's road trip instead of after at 4942 miles.

Whoever decided that filter location was acceptable needs to be forced to replace filters on S58 engines for the rest of their life. That drain plug is also really far back, makes the S65 oil changes look like a breeze.

How come you do your own vs the dealer? Oil changes are covered for the first 3 years I thought

Dude at a rally last year had a 720s with his hood wrapped in this. Had me convinced it was real Carbon until I saw the underside.

Only every 12k miles or so. I'm doing mine more frequently.

I just looked it up and wow that location is a pain. Reminds me the location of a hose that you need to detach and could barely see to take off the S65 plenum.

Are you talking about the hose at the front and underside? That one isn't too bad because you can detach it last or attach it after the plenum is mostly on.

For some reason, I thought the filter would be right underneath the coolant reservoir but no. Lots of sharp edges there trying to wedge it in diagonally. What makes it even worse is the filter has that "locating dowel" that you have to line up for whatever reason.

I don't want to spend the money on Carbon Fiber Trim so I thought of having diffuser wrapped in the Stek. I really only wanted the diffuser in Carbon and side vents.

I plan to do the similar, I did order the CF option, but would like to wrap the rest like the side skirts, etc. You guys think they would "match" or blend nicely with the OEM CF stuff?

The weave is different if you look close enough. The BMW carbon is more grey vs the STEK which is a touch more on the black side. Placed directly next to each other you'll see the color and texture difference but otherwise you'd be hard pressed to notice. I'll try and get an A/B comparison photo when I swing by and check on the car tomorrow.

Ouch. Man that sucks. Good thing is that tire looks ok, so at least you're not in line for a new tire
