Any chance this intake fits with the CSL strut brace?

Would not. Would require either the factory non-CSL brace, any similar aftermarket brace or our brace (when released).

Sheesh...good to know your product plans. I was literally about to hit buy on a bunch of other engine bay goodies. Now I am holding for that matte brace and engine cover.

Installed the Dinan Intake couple weekends ago and LOVE it!

Aesthetics are awesome, but I am mostly surprised on how much more induction noise you hear, even windows up. It is a noticeable increase in induction sound and when you let off, you hear the turbo whoosh. It sounds really sick...

Install was overall not bad, but not the easiest intake install ever. Kind of a pain trying to put the whole unit in at one time, and then get to the clamps to tighten to the carbon but that's just the nature of the beast.

Appreciate Tom at EAS for the communication and getting her ordered in for me!

Took a quick video when I was driving tonight, its not the best, but tried to capture inside the cabin what you can hear. Will try and shoot again with windows half up to cut down on wind noise

Thinking of ditching my Project Gammas for these or put the stock air boxes in.

Do you think this is an hour install? I saw a youtube video also mentioning it was tough to get the one piece in there. Nothing had to be cut or removed? Saw instructions say to bend some tabs? Thanks! Also for anybody who wanted soundclips.

We call it out as a 1.5 hour install. First time doing it being extra careful it could be a 2 hour install however. That said, the main engineer who designed the thing and has installed/uninstalled it countless times can do it cleanly in about 20 minutes at this point.

Nothing is cut or removed. We do reccommend bending back some tabs to make sliding the main piece in a bit easier with that extra bit of clearance. Can it be done without doing so? Sure -- just would need to be extremely careful as it will be very tight and the poking tab can scratch the carbon if not careful.

Love the review. Did you notice any difference in the "seat of the pants" feel?

I honestly didn’t feel any performance difference but expected that going in. The added sound and aesthetics justifies the purchase to me!

Maybe a tune or piggyback could unlock a little more, but stock, I don’t think you can expect to feel anything.

We have just released the carbon fiber engine cover to mate to the intakes here and wanted to bump/share. We think the combo looks pretty good.

Complete details can be found on the release thread at: https://g80.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh....php?t=2024973

Nothing to speak of. Anything with a stock carbon trap/filter element is essentially in limbo/purgatory until a CARB approved testing procedure is officially employed. Dinan along with a number of other companies (SEMA, BASF, etc.) over the last 15 years have been working to find a solution and testing procedure that everyone can agree on but its been "challenging" to say the least. All we can do in the interim is our own internal testing and implement best practices with the affected systems (like all M intakes) while continuing to work towards a permanent solution with complete CARB legality.

Would you recommend waiting for the 1200 mile break in period to be complete before installing this cold air intake? Quick reminder for me. This would not void warranty, correct?
Thank you.

Would always recommend waiting for the 1200 mile break in period to be complete before ANY modifications. I know a lot of folks within the modding community may scoff at that but the break-in period is there for a reason -- bed in parts and to bring any issues with the factory components to the forefront before they are subjected to full power and failure could cause more substantial problems. By introducing non-OEM parts you are interfering with that process and creating additional variables.

Factory warranty is unaffected outside of the intake tract itself (no longer BMW after all) which would then be covered by Dinan's factory matching warranty.

I was holding off due to the bending of the tabs which makes me cringe a bit...but I realized that its simple enough to just remove that metal shroud first, the install the intake, then put the shroud back on.

I also have the Race Chip attached to the strut bar which is annoying as hell. But I'll have to figure out a way to put it elsewhere.

Now to find a good sale!

Aesthetically it looks second to none. I do wonder how its induction sound compares to the likes of Eventuri
